yeah but you also have to realize that in NY it usually doesnt matter the electoral college ALWAYS!!! votes blue...THEY SOOOOO NEED TO DISBAND IT and really give the power to the people...at one point last night the pop vote was soooo close and the college vote was not even remotely even and I was like OH NO!!! not again!!! lol

I completely agree with you!

I did my homework and voted for whom I thought was the best candidate.

I think the electoral college is ridiculous. The popular vote was only separated by 5%, yet the electoral college didn't represent that at all.

I wasn't in favor of Obama and of course I don't wanna start in but I just wanna give my opinion too. History has been made and i'm thrilled for that...but A LOT of people in my workplace and the community I work in voted democratic for all the wrong reasons (in my eyes)and even admitted to it. I don't know if you get what i'm saying but I think some people in the future need to do their 'homework' and not just decide who they like based on race or color or anything that doesn't have to do with politics and what they really stand for and what they are going to do for our country.

kathyrn, i'm with you on this one, fh and i both voted for mccain even though we knew the electoral votes would be in favor of the blue party... i'm a registered democrat, but i usually do my research before voting anyhow and have quite a few times voted for the opposing party...

my mom voted for the old guy because she felt bad no one was voting for him, and my grams voted for the old guy because she and her senior citizen buddies decided that they were old so they all voted for the old guy too lol

Re: New President

I have already been in heated political debates with my family and my FH's family. (All in good taste, though). I find it very annoying when people do not do their homework on the candidates, and simply base their opinions on who they think 'looks good'. Or even worse, base opinions on outdated events from fifty, sixty years ago!

I voted for Obama and am very proud of that. I sided toward McCain in the beginning. Then, I looked at both of their voting records, and their stances on the issues, and decided Obama was the right candidate for me.

One person in my family, who I consider educated, and shall remain nameless didn't want to vote for Obama because of the ridiculous propaganda on the internet that he was the antichrist! Can you imagine? She really believed that!

I do agree with you that I hope people did their homework and made a decision that they saw best, not just voting for the sake of voting.

My undergraduate degree is in Political Science (pre-law) so this was very exciting for me....I did a lot of homework and I am thrilled that Obama won! Fh on the other hand was crying in the shower...

So was mine! Maybe they can hold each other!

I agree as well...we are way beyond the times of travelling 3 days on horseback to cast your vote. We have complete access to newspapers, internet, TV, podcasts, etc. I think we're educated enough to make our own decisions.

i agree

history has truly been made & this is a great way to teach kids that they can accomplish anything they put their mind to.
