I had my shower. Yeahh. Now I am staring at this stuff I lvoe (soem I can use now some I will have to wait until the bigger place.
So I wanted to pose to you ladies, will you be saving your bridal shower gifts to after the wedding? using some now. I cracked open my Kuerig Coffee maker because FH was soo eager to try it out, & I put some stuff away in the kitchen, but I feel like I am cheating & should technically wait to open the rest of the stuff & use after the wedding? Maybe it will make it more special.
Your thoughts?

We've only used some very essential gifts that we couldn't go with otherwise about 98% of our gifts are in storage until after we do our extension.

we already lived together before we got married so we didn't 'need' any of the gifts we got right away.
We held on to them until after the honeymoon b/c that's what I was always told to do b/c if God forbid the wedding doesn't happen you're supposed to return the gifts.
I've had family members call off a wedding after their shower and not be able to return gifts b/c they used them already. The family members who gave them those gifts were mighty pissed.

Shoot. If I had to call off any wedding I would want to keep them as parting gifts. JUST Kidding. That would be just horrible.
I make light but I don't know if anyone saw the Gray's Anatomy episode where one of the characters was giving her shower gift away to people as bribes?

I hope this doesn't come across as me being greedy or just a jerk in general, but we are putting our gifts in a spare closet until we get everything and then we will decide if there are any items that we need to return because of duplicates or we just outright don't need it. BUT we did open our Tassimo because we LOVE coffee and it was an early early wedding present from my FIL's!

i didnt have a bridal shower but i did have a huge engagement and we got lots of presents that are sititing in fh's parents basements...we live together now and have been for 3 years but we will not use our new stuff til we get our new place

we already live together (for like 3 years already) so we pretty much have everything - we still registered though with having a new home in mind - plus it will make moving easier since everything will still be in its boxes - its going to be really hard to wait but it will be worth it in the end! plus there isnt much room in our apartment anyways!

we waited til after the wedding. we already lived together, and only needed a few things, but MIL was insistent that we could not use anything until after the wedding since it's bad luck. everything was in her house anyway, so we couldn't even sneak something. more than 1/2 the stuff is still in her house, we just don't have room for it, and registered for stuff more for when we have a house.

I think we are planning to wait until we move to NH - a year after the wedding - since we have almost everything we need now. I will use my vacuum since mine is broken now, and maybe a few other things that I *need* - but mostly, I will just keep using what I have as long as I can, until we move.

Haven't had my shower yet, but planning on using most of the stuff right away. I know there are a few things that we won't be using until we get house, such as our China.
But really hoping to get my new pots and can't wait to use them!!!!

Good to know. I was planning on waiting until the new place, but who knows when that will be. I may just try & hold off some of the major things until after the wedding. for goodness sake it is only a week.lol
