If your SS card was not in your purse or the number written on anything for that matter, you don't need to get a new card. Just make sure you contact every CC company you have and the DMV to let the know what happened.

If your SS card wasn't in there, then you don't need to get a new one. Def. contact your banks and credit card company though if your other cards got stolen so you can cancel your current ones and get new ones sent.

you don't need a new ss card if it wasn't stolen. Contact your bank etc. and also keep an eye on your credit report just in case.

Yes, but getting a new SS card won't do anything for that. They don't change your SS #. This could affect your credit though anytime someone gets a hold of your SS #. So call Equifax or something and put an alert up.

they say to contact the 3 credit bureaus - to report it to them.

ok so its a waste to get a new card since the number doesn't change?

Your social security number won't change if u order a new card. U should contact the 3 credit-reporting agencies and request a fraud alert on your account so nobody can open a new credit card. Here is the contact info:

if you are concerned..definately call one of the 3 credit bureaus..to report a fraud and alert on your credit..i had to do this several times, and its worth the piece of mind! they will contact you first , if a huge transaction is made...you can call one of the bureaus and they will report to the others
