New to boards and need help - Venues
Hello All! I am new to this wedding planning business, my FH and I have just started looking at venues for outdoor ceremony and reception. We are looking to have around 120 guests, and looking to book end of August to early October. We are not particularly married to a date, but looking to have whatever day of the weekend is cheapest.
Was wondering if anyone had quotes for the following RH's:
The Riviera
Thatched Cottage
Old Field Club
Jedediah Hawkins Inn (or any more info on this venue in general..?)
Also, thoughts on having a wedding the day before Labor Day? Not sure if it would be more costly or possibly discounted..?
Thanks so much!!!

Welcome!! Thatched Cottage quoted me about 95++ for Friday night I believe 110++ for a Saturday and the least on a Sunday. These were July 2014 prices. I dont have the exact numbers but, Maureen was amazing and the place was beautiful my big concern was space I have 175 minimum and I was concerned with the size of room! Definitely worth checking out.Holidays are strange I got 4th of JUly quotes some were higher some were lower. Depends on the place! Hope this helps good luck

Thatched Cottage quoted us $125 for a Saturday night in Sept 2014 with a 150 person minimum.I wanted a labor day weekend or columbus day weekend Sunday night but many of them were booked already and we looked at venues this past summer. Happy planning!

The Riviera quoted me for a saturday night in december $82++ with a 125 minimum. It would probably be more than that for Aug-October.Old Field Club quoted me $125pp for a saturday night in december

2013 crasher...When I looked, I was quoted $185pp for the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend. Riviera was about $90pp. And this was in January 2012, so I'm sure the prices have gone up.
I'm obviously biased, but Thatched Cottage is absolutely beautiful and the food is AMAZING. Definitely go in and speak to Maureen.
I have a friend whose sister is getting married at Jedidiah Hawkins in May, but I'm not sure on pricing. She said all has gone well so far.

Welcome!!I went to Riviera and Thatched Cottage. I was looking for a Sunday afternoon in May, so these may not be the exact prices. For Riviera, I was quoted (I believe) $69 or $72, depending on what time of the month it was. I believe as it got closer to July, it got more expensive. But they did have only like a 90 person minimum.
I was quoted $80 or $85.. at Thatched Cottage, but I know their minimum was higher, like 120 possibly. I liked it there, but as someone said earlier, I was having minimum 150, and it just looked like everyone would have been cramped. Plus, if you're looking for an outdoor venue, you also need to consider the indoor alternative in case it rains, and Thatched Cottage didn't have an alternative we liked.
When we went to Old Field Club, we didn't even end up meeting with the BM. We decided we didn't like the setup (again, all personal preferences), and it, again, felt like it would have been cramped for over 150 people.
If you have any more questions about other venues, please let me know! I looked at over 30, so I've been around the block LOL

Hi! I'm booked at Thatched Cottage. I'm sorry I don't have quotes for the time you're looking, plus I booked in 2012 so my quotes are outdated now. What I can tell you is that I have a 150 minimum and I'm not worried about the space. When I booked they told me it could definitely hold high into the 200s worth of peope. While I definitely wouldn't put that many people in there, I have no concerns about 150-175 guests. The cocktail hour room is also spacious. A big reason I booked was because of the food - so many options (more choices for cocktail hour AND dinner than any other RH I checked out) and it was all so good! I did a tasting before I booked.I'm booked for the Sunday before Memorial Day. I was quoted a regular Sunday evening rate, so it's not one of the venues that raises the rate to Saturday prices. Sundays before holidays are very popular though, so there's a chance it might be booked, but it never hurts to call and ask! FM me if you have any questions and good luck :)

I tried old field club when i was looking. I was quoted 145pp for December- if you like the pictures online and want to look i would say do so just so you can find the best fit for you. For me personally it was not what I was looking for and found many negatives (again just me and you can FM me if you want more details) however, I did attend a wedding there for a friend and she had a great time that day!any of the others i didn't look at but they all seem beautiful! :)

Check out Timber Point as well, my sister got married there two years ago and it was AWESOME! It's really beautiful inside and outside. East Wind's Veranda room has an attached and private outdoor terrace that is covered so people will be able to enjoy it regardless of the weather. 120 guests would be a great fit for that room too. HTH! Good luck!
