New to LIW

New to LIW

My FH and I got engaged on 7/30/09 and have set our wedding date for 6/25/11. The wedding will be on Long Island where I am originally from since most of my guests are from the area and my FH's family and friends are in Philly. I am in the early stages of planning the wedding from Florida. (We have a reception hall and that is it). Any advice from those who are further along in the process?

Welcome!!!!!! i just became a member of LIW yesterday and i am totalyy addicted!

Are you planning on visiting Long Island often during your planning process? If not, maybe you should look into wedding planners to handle all of the details for you since you are in another state.

You should see if your venue hosts bridal showcases and plan a trip. A lot of recommended vendors will be a the showcase. If your venue doesnt, google wedding expos long island and see if there is one the next time you visit.

Thanks everyone! I am still trying to navigate the site in order to find posts related to areas where I have questions. I have heard great things- my sister used the site for her 2007 wedding. Everyone seems so helpful

I lived in philly for a few years (go quakers) since its far but not that far it would help if you could make notes of things that you want to see or places or vendors that you want to meet and take a few weekend trips.

which hall did you book? as far as flowers (flowers by brian) looks good im thinking about checking it out.. (bella flowers) have beautiful flowers ... as far as church and photo i booked in brooklyn so cant help with that.. im going to look at 3 halls in LI monday so excited
