new to site....shooting for september 2009....

hello ladies....just wanted to intro myself....have been a lurker for years, but didn't want to jinx myself before he actually proposed! well....he proposed! and we're off and running! shooting for a september '09 wedding....am i crazy, or can it be done in 9 months?

looking for sites right now....have emails into a bunch of places, have received a few back with no availability for the time we want.

any suggestions for around 110 people, $100-$130 pp, not your traditional wedding hall (trying to stay away from the marble and gold...just the type of people we are), saturday night in september/early october (but not labor day weekend)?? we live in queens, but would go out to mid suffolk county.

thanks for any help you can provide....and thanks for listening to the rant of a newly engaged bride!

thanks again.....~danielle

Congratulations and welcome!!

Try the Riviera in Massapequa. I LOVED it, and it was beautiful. Brick and dark wood.

The food wasn't my favorite, but I think that was just my taste, because other people on here have RAVED about it.

So instead, I'm getting married at a place with lots of marble and gold.

I know, it's not me either. But I loved the food and the view!!

Good luck with all your planning, and have fun with us!

its going to be veryyyy difficult at this stage to book a sat night wedding... if anything, i would shoot for a diff day and possibly time... you can def plan in 9 months, but you have to have some flexibility... lots of vendors are already booked so try not to let that get you down...

Welcome and congrats!!!

Good luck...it is possible, but honestly very very hard. You may have to sacrifice the time of year or the time of day or even the day itself. And at this point a lot of vendors will be booked.

As for RHs, I really can't help you if you're not into marble and gold LOL. I would concentrate on lesser known, not as popular venues, as they're less likely to have booked. Or maybe a vineyard.

Congratulations! Yes, you can get it all done in 9 months - just start looking at halls right away!

I also didn't want a traditional RH and I wanted to be the only wedding, which is why I chose my hall, but there are so many beautiful ones on LI to pick from.

Good luck and welcome to the boards!

Definitely check out the Old Field Club! It's straight out of a Martha Stewart magazine with a clean and classic feel. I believe a Sat night is $130 and a Sunday night is $110, but definitely check it out!! Please forum mail me if you have an questions!
