hello ladies....just wanted to intro myself....have been a lurker for years, but didn't want to jinx myself before he actually proposed! well....he proposed! and we're off and running! shooting for a september '09 wedding....am i crazy, or can it be done in 9 months?
looking for sites right now....have emails into a bunch of places, have received a few back with no availability for the time we want.
any suggestions for around 110 people, $100-$130 pp, not your traditional wedding hall (trying to stay away from the marble and gold...just the type of people we are), saturday night in september/early october (but not labor day weekend)?? we live in queens, but would go out to mid suffolk county.
thanks for any help you can provide....and thanks for listening to the rant of a newly engaged bride!
thanks again.....~danielle

Re: new to site....shooting for september 2009....
Congrats! And Welcome! I also agree that you can do it in 9 months! But you will have to do a lot of work work work.
I presonally recommend to check out THE ROYALTON. it is within your budget... and it's simply beautiful. It seems like everything you are asking for.. not a hall.. none of that hall like stuff. 1 event at a time. It's a must see!
Also, you picked a popular month... are you at all flexible on your date? Because if so... then that will open more windows for you guys.
GO SEE THE ROYALTON.. it's in Roslyn Heights - like 30 mins from queens... depending where in Queens you live.. I am also from Queens. \

O and right after you book the hall., which should be done ASAP.. you will want to get your major vendors booked immediately as well... starting with the DJ then Photographer and Florist..etc,.

Welcome and Congratulations!!!!!
Look at Trumpets at the Gate in East Port, NY (it's out east but it is BEAUTIFUL!) We would have had to cut our guest list down to book there but otherwise the place is beautiful. It is understated elegance all the way.

My fiance and I were looking in October 2008 for an October 2009 wedding and almost every place we visited didn't have any Saturday nights left except for Halloween. You might have trouble finding a place for a Saturday night. We are having a Friday night wedding at the Royalton. Good luck!

Welcome and congrats. I think that you can plan in 9 months - just start looking for halls asap!!
Old Field club is beautiful by the way. So is larkfield Manor and I'm very in love with East Wind but it's probably too far for you.

Congrats! Def. get out to halls right away. When we were looking in August, we had a hard time finding halls in September of 09, which is what we wanted so we ended up in October. Don't get discouraged though - just be flexible and you will be so happy with the day you end up with. Good luck!!!!

Welcome and congrats too! I second the Old Field Club suggestion! We looked at almost 30 venues and fell in love w/OFC. And the food is great too (we did a couple of tastings also). Definitely check it out and go see it!

You can try my place as well, the Allegria, its a new hotel in Long Beach. I'd say your odds of finding a date are better there than other places since they're not open yet...and its in your price range (on the high end of your range)
Congrats and happy planning!

Congrats!!! Don't worry my friend is planning in 5. Its tight but she is getting it all done. The biggest issue will be booking a place, so get right on that. Then jump on photographers and videographers and music.
