Ok so this is my first post and my friend told me to join because of the advice and helpful ideas. I just came home from Europe last week where my new fiancee proposed. Its very exciting, but my nerves are getting to me already. So we want to have a very small wedding (no more than 115 people) We have not set a date yet. Any suggestions? I have looked into the Foxhollow. I am trying to do the whole getting ready on site or a nearby hotel and I've decided not to do the Church and Limo thing. really just want a small and intimate reception, but I want do a day wedding where we can continue the party afterwards whether its at a nearby hotel and a catering hall with hotels. Thanks :)

Re: New to the board
I don't think 115 is considered 'very small.' We're only inviting 100 and hoping for 80-85 guests.
Anyway, we're getting married at the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook. They have a small inn with about 25 rooms where we are going to stay as well as some of our guests. Our ceremony will be on site starting at 11 am and the reception will end at 4:30. They have a bar area and plus it's not far from other bars or downtown areas like Port Jefferson since we are planning on an after-party type celebration with our friends.
Another wedding venue with an inn is Danfords in Port Jefferson, but I don't know much about them.
FM me for more details about TVI.

Well I can only hope for some No's as well :) So hopefully 95-100. My 115 has some out of state people. Thanks for the advice :)

Welcome and congratulations!
Sounds like you're in a great spot right now with lots of exciting things to plan coming up! We had 105 at our wedding (invited 176, but so many were out of town, we really expected closer to 120). It was a great size, and we had the perfect day, no matter what.
Make sure when you do choose a place to get a minimum that's well below what you expect, but that they can handle it if most of the people come. Sometimes people underestimate their 'no's which can be costly with a high minimum.
We had a Saturday day wedding, and met at the hotel (we stayed at the Melville Marriott) after with our guests and hung out, played some games, and chatted most of the evening after really casual in the lobby, but it was wonderful! (they let us BYOB there) It really was such a wonderful weekend with all our friends and family.
Good luck with your planning and try not to get too overwhelmed! There's a lot to do, but you'll find tons of support here!

I would check out Chateau Briand (they have a hotel right next door). Fox Hollow has a hotel right there also.

Re: New to the board
We chose Danfords for this reason. We are doing our reception and then continuing to party afterwards and then having a brunch the next day and the guests don't have to travel because its a hotel.
Oh and congrats and welcome (that should have been first)

Welcome and congrats!!!!
I highly recommend Old Field Club in Setauket. It is a very unique and beautiful RH that is right on the water. They only have one wedding per day and it the perfect size for the number of guests you are looking to have. FM me if you have any questions.
