New to the site!-VYC

Hey!
I booked at Venetian Yacht Club about a month ago. I'd love to here from others that have also booked there. Is anyone adding extras to the menu or doing chair covers? Thanks!

Congrats on booking there! We are thinking about adding on the Seafood boat at CH.. we arent doing chair covers - I like the look that they bring to the room. All of our CPs are in glass vases so no worries about clashing the seats with any stands. We did our food tasting last month - it was AMAZING! Great choice!

Re: New to the site!-VYC

Late to this post, but I'm a VYC bride, and quite a few members of my family recently went to a wedding there. They said the amount of food was OUTRAGEOUS (and these are not little people!), and that nothing else was necessary. I was dying for the Viennese table, but literally, everyone I spoke to said it was a massive waste of money, as there is so much food there. Also, not doing the chair covers, as the chairs are pretty nice. My centerpieces are that goldy-colored base, but will be covered with greenery. I hope you enjoy your planning!

Yayy! I booked there too! It is sooo beautiful. I've been to weddings there and the food's great!! I'm not sure about using chair covers though..the chairs do look nice as is, but i might add like a bow or something on them.

Hey, VYC ladies- how do we start a thread? I have no idea. I can barely turn this thing on.

I'm so relieved you went to weddings there and liked them, and that the food was great!! Yay!! Everytime I hear something good, it makes me so excited!

And just a note- when you go to your tasting, check out the Mushroom Beggars Purse. I hate mushrooms, and this was the greatest thing ever. Also, the cozy shrimp. I have never seen a shrimp fried like that.

Now I'm hungry.

Cocktail hour room is very very small

Re: New to the site!-VYC

Cocktail Hour room size depends on how many people you have. I'm getting married upstairs, having cocktail hour in big room downstairs, and going back upstairs for the reception. We're not using the smaller room, although I think it's really nice! You can open up the downstairs room and it connects the two rooms (downstairs and cocktail rooms), and I think that looks awesome.

We are having CH in the large room downstairs and reception upstairs - Tho we are having a Sunday Afternoon wedding.. we get run of the entire place without a 2nd wedding going on

I am only having 120 people so I think it is fine - with having the outside as well - If you are having 300 people then yeah you would need the downstairs room -I am having reception on the bottom which I am happy about so my guests have access tot the outside patio with a beautiful view all night !!

Me too, I love that we can outside during the reception. And I love the small cocktail room. But all the rooms are gorgeous though. I love the dance floor too. I'm so excited, can you tell!!!!

I am having about 130 guests so I am usiing the smaller room too. I think we would look too spread out in the upstairs room bc it is a smaller number. The cocktail room isn't too small or uncomfortable when you use the outside areas also.

I agree, we are having about 120-130 people and I think the upstairs would be way too big for us. I think the cocktail room is perfect for our size, I just hope it's a sunny day next Sat.

Re: New to the site!-VYC

Best wishes for a sunny day! And I hope everything goes great. Just a tip- when I was there, I saw a chair in the downstairs bathroom. The seat was torn and the stuffing was visible. It's just a chair, and not attached to anything. I would call and ask them to remove it. I know it may sound stupid, but I would want it gone at my wedding, and you may not have noticed it, so I thought I would mention it. For all I know, it's probably gone by now.

Am I totally crazy? It's a chair. Sorry.

Anyway, I hope it's all great!!! Let us know how it went!!!

Aw, thanks ladies. I will look into the chair, thanks for the heads up. We will be going there thursday to drop stuff off, so I'll check to see if that chair is still there.
I'm getting so excited. I love VYC, I think it's so beautiful

Ah I Can't wait to hear everything about your wedding! I was thinking about doing the seafood boat but not sure. Where is everyone having their ceremony? I really wanted St. Pats in Bay Shore but only time available was 1130 and CH starts at 630, so now I am thinking St. Joes in Babylon. I am having CH in big room downstairs and thinking about having a steel drum band and then we have the room upstairs for the reception. Any one have any ideas on where to go for pics if it rains? I really wanna do Argyle Park but only if it's nice out.
