I just recently got engaged on December 21, 2001. I have not made any definitive plans yet. I live in Boston, but will be planning a Long Island wedding most likely in the spring/summer of 2003. So far, the ideas and feedback that I have read on this board have been very helpful as I feel a bit overwhelmed with the planning process. I will be coming home in a few weeks to begin to look at reception sites. So far, I have the Watermill, Holbrook Country Club, Island Hills Country Club and Majestic Gardens on my list of possibilities. Can anyone recommend some other relatively reasonable locations that I should take a look at? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome!
Since you are looking in that area, I would suggest a look at East Wind Caterers. We looked at Majestic Gardens and the food is great, but price was way out of hand!! East Wind is VERY reasonable and beautiful! They have a website Eastwindcaterers.com Goodluck!

Welcome to the board. You will find that you will be hooked very quickly. Some other reasonably priced locations are the Crest Hollow Country Club and the Swan Club. The Woodbury Country Club is nice too but I am not sure about the prices. Good luck in your search.

Also try Meadow Club and Port Jefferson Country Club. I am getting married at The Hamlet Golf Club in Hauppauge (on the same property at the Windwatch Hotel). This site gets very addicting. I also use www.ultimatewedding.com That has brides from all over, including Boston, so you get tons of ideas. Also there are girls who can give you tips about planning a wedding from so far away. Another thing to consider..some sites force you to book only the vendors that they recommend. I didn't think that was fair so I did not book at any of those halls. I would rather make my own decisions about my band, florist etc.. So just keep that in mind when you are looking. Good Luck.

Congrats and welcome to the board!
Hi! Congratulations on your engagement...you'll definitely get some great ideas here...I am not sure whether you're looking in Suffolk or Nassau, but if you're considering Nassau, you may want to look where I'm getting married - Stewart Manor Country Club. They have a website www.stewartmanor.com They are located in Stewart Manor, but really Garden City (border line Franklin Square). Their prices are very reasonable, and the best part is that you're the only wedding. We went for a tasting and the food was great. If you're having a big wedding, you may not want to look there. I believe the room holds up to 200. But they provide the centerpieces in addition to a lot of food! Good luck with your search, and keep us posted!

New to this Also :-)
This is my first post to the board. We got engaged in November and today we started looking at reception sites. Thanks to this board I have a lot of postive feedback about the place we will probably use, Coral House. Our wedding is October 12, 2002. We have taken care of a lot of the minute details, but now we have to tackle the big ones! I look forward to reading and sharing information with all of you. DianaWelcome New Vendors
