Re: New topic for debate

Fur balls. Definitely fur balls. Start giving your cat a little bit of molasses everyday. It makes it all go to the 'other' end

Re: New topic for debate

Hmm... there must be a medical reason for it ...

but I personally have THE weirdest cat ever .. I think she's only caughed up 2 hairballs in all the time we've had her (2 years now) And the only time she threw up was after she was fixxed

She'll choke and gag and sounds as though she's gonna puke up a big one, but it never happens

Re: New topic for debate

my cat usually doesn't throw up hairballs.....he throws up his food
sometimes in his dish
sometimes on the bed
sometimes on the carpet....

and sometimes, when he's feeling really special, he eats it back up

my new kitten, who is perfect in every way, has never thrown up...and i doubt she'll have many hairballs because big old nasty gunnar follows her around and licks her everyday

This is what I am talking about! Xena RARELY throws up fur balls but food is almost daily. We have tried expensive, cheap, sensitive stomach ever kind! Frankie swears she is bulimic because she is 'petitie' (as the vet calls her) and he thinks she wants to stay that way.

It is frustrating. She is the reason that we barely put any carpeting down in this house!

Patty has never had hairballs... she just vomits everywhere. Sometimes we call her Puke-ahontas. She usually does it when she's stressed. Other times she just does it for the hell of it.

She pukes when the lawn guys come and make noise.
When the cleaning lady comes and runs the vacuum.
When my dad doesn't let her outside right-this-minute!

Re: New topic for debate

Its so odd...we have one cat that throws up about 3/4 times per week and another cat who throws up the MAYBE 1/2 per year.

Re: New topic for debate

They don't need to puke up the fur ball for it to be because of them. (wow, that sounded really gross). I think they cough so much to try to get it up that they usually dump the rest of the contents of their stomaches. That's why the molasses helps becuase all that fur gets stuck in there. But then again, it could all just be spite

I think sometimes Gunnar throws up because he eats too fast....because he's afraid the tiny 5 pound kitten will eat all of his food!

or sometimes, he eats and then runs around with the kitten right away, so i don't think it digests properly.

i think i've only seen one or two hairballs come out of him (love that graphic) in 15 years

I hear ya .. there is nothing worse than the sound of a kitty choking/heaving, etc ..

My Mom would never get within 10 feet of a cat before she met and fell in love with my Mia. One day she was visiting the kitty and Mia started choking! My Mom, never having heard this sound before, FREAKED and called me and DH at work to ask if she needed to rush Mia to the vet!

She couldn't believe that sound was possibly something NORMAL
