New York City Marriage License Question

New York City Marriage License Question

If I need to do this in the city, downtown, I went online and there is an application but it makes you 'submit it' online and then gives you a confirmation number...

.. so i just take the confirmation number (not the form?) and then bring it with the ID and $ and then they can somehow 'look up' my form?

Thanks!!

I think thats how it goes. I would hope their automated at this point!

Can you print it out just to be on the safe side?

I'm not sure! I will try to but I also need to wait 2 days because I'm at 61 days and 1 hour, and don't want it to be 'technically 61, not 60' if I don't wait til it literally says 59 days.

So I guess I'll print it before I hit 'submit' in case it goes away when I click that.

Thanks!

I submitted mine online the night before we went in person. You just bring the confirmation number with you (I printed out the receipt form) and they pull it up from that. Also each of you bring your driver's licenses.

It takes no time at all! They just make you look it over so everything is correct.

Also, it was a great way to make your last name two last names with a space if that's something you want to do. I know people who did theirs on LI weren't able to do that, but in the city, they let you do whatever you want as your new last name. (you should see my SS card with all 4 names on it now!)

Don't do it early because the marriage license expires 60 days from when it was issued. Just wait another day or two.
