newly engaged!!!

Just wanted to say hello.

I just got engaged last week to my boyfriend of 5 and a half years. He is a Marine reservist (getting out in august) and we are planning a summer 06 wedding so we can save up for a place to live and the wedding of course.

We will probably have a military ceremony at the church and then a recption somewhere unknown haha

I have sooo much time and I am already stressing. I am a teacher and my job is unstable right now so I am worried about money and what not and WHERE TO LIVE. Long island is too expensive!!!

I look foward to getting to know all of you.

Congratulations and WELCOME! We have a couple of military brides here -- maybe they can get a thread going. I know LIQTNY is one as is bluesashbride.

Yea we are thinking july but dont have an exact date or anything yet.

Thats great there are other military brides here. I convinced him to let me have the military sword arch for the ceremony wit the compromise that he can change into a tux for the recption

oh yea?? Thats great. I taught last year and lost my job due to budget so I took a leave replacement this year which is soooooo frustrating because it is not stable.

Yeah, I am in a part-time position, and I am not sure how secure it is for next year! I do reading support. I am hoping this is my 'in' for this district, and that next year I am offered something full time. God knows I need the money!!!

How did he propose??

well he actually was gonna do a whole big elaborate thing and im sooooo glad he didnt.

We had a normal sunday...went to price club, played video games etc. I had some stuff to do at home so I asked if we could go back there (we dont live together yet) so we do and I stop to get gas. It was super nice out and just had gotten dark and he suggested we take a ride down my the lake. So we go there and he wound up proposing on the beach. It was soooo gorgeous and I was FLOORED. I have been expecting it for so long and this just caught me so off gaurd. It was so sweet and wonderful. He later told me that he was gonna do some big dramatic thing, but he knew that if he did anything out of the ordinary I would figure it out right a way. He also said he had the ring for 3 weeksn and just HAD to ask me that day. :)
