Newly Engaged!

Hello to everyone. I just got engaged Friday Februaury 4. I am so excited yet nervous. Why is it that when people find out your engaged the first question they have is when's the wedding? Should I have that answer? We are planning soon. We are writing our guest lists out first so that we know that the places we are going to be looking at can accomodate us.
I was also wondering if anyone has an interesting and different idea about how to ask your bridesmaids and Maid of honor to be in your wedding party. I want to do something different.

This is such an exciting time in your life. Don't worry about knowing your wedding date right away. When you decide then you'll let everyone know. Enjoy this time because believe it or not it will FLY BY!

Congrats and welcome!! Don't worry about setting the date right away -- you are doing the right thing by getting your bearings on the size of the wedding you want first. We didn't set our date until 3 months after we got engaged.

Congrats!!! Have fun planning. Don't worry too much about giving the date. We got engaged Christmas Eve and didn't set a date or place until last week!!! lol We did our guest list first, but when we looked at halls, we looked at what we would be comfortable in and what suited us. Look at a bunch of places and then sit down and decide which one is giving you the most for your money.

as for asking bridesmaids, you could take them to dinner or something. Or they have adorable 'will you be my bridesmaid' cards .. . i'm not so creative though. .. that's all I got!

I got engaged on January 1st & we were having such a great time the first few days then everyone started pushing us to set the date - now my FH & I can't even stand to look at one another - we have been fighting about the wedding date non stop.
I really wish we would have stayed on cloud nine a bit longer.

Hello and congrats! You'll find so much helpful info on this board. And all the brides on here are so great.

I bought cards for my MOH and BM's that say 'will you be my bridesmaid/MOH?' wrote them a nice note and gave it to them in person. I even mailed one b/c one of my bm's lives far away. They have them at this site www.paperstyle.com

You'll have a date soon enough, don't let everyone else scare you into doing things too quickly. :)

As for asking your bridesmaids, I ordered the 'Will you be my bridesmaid?' cards from paperstyle.com. I included short poems in each card that I found on the internet (I can find the site for you if you're interested), and then wrote something personal to each girl.
