newly engaged

We just got engaged on Christmas after 7 1/2 years together. My question is it possible to plan a wedding for September on a really, really, really tight budget?? Can anyone offer advice to make the wedding beautiful without looking cheap and cheesy.
We are thinking of having it a one of the north fork wineries. Has anyone done this and if so, how was it?
Thanks in advance

Re: newly engaged

Thank you so much. I want it to be beautiful and special but I cant see myself spending 20 grand on the day. I am paying for most of it and I still need money to live and pay bills.
Thanks again

I don't know about the wineries, but the place I had my wedding in starts I think around $70-80 pp. Check out my review.

You're very welcome! I know exactly what you mean as my husband and I paid for our entire wedding by ourselves.

Be flexible on your dates and the day of the week, time, etc. (short bookings, or bookings 6 months or less in advance are generally less expensive) and you'll have a better chance of not going broke.

Welcome and congrats! It is definatly possible to plan in a short period of time, we had a 6 mo. engagement and really planned in four.

I think the wineries are quite expensive, though, although I could be wrong about that.

Feel free to FM with any questions. I mostly looked at lower-cost places.

Re: newly engaged

thanks again for the advice. there is so much pressure to have it here, at this time, on this day. We would be fine with a BBQ in the back yard. LOL

congratulations and welcome to LIW!

It is absolutely do-able! your hall and guest list will probably have the most impact on the $$ you spend. IMO

welcome! i am having my wedding at a winery. let me tell you, it's not the way to go on a budget! you have to pay for everything down to the napkins and even toilets at some places!

Congrats, and welcome.
September is usually one of the most expensive months you can get married, regardless of the venue. If you are at all flexible with the month, I would suggest getting prices for other months in addition to September. I was so surprised at how much we saved by having our wedding the last weekend in April as opposed to May-Sept. Just something to think about (also, if you can, Fri night, Saturday during the day and anytime on Sunday will be much cheaper than Saturday night). Good luck!
