Newly Engaged!!!

Newly Engaged!!!

Hello,

I am soooo new at this, I don't even know where to begin. I got engaged last week and I want to get married next July/Aug. My BF told me to start hitting the chat rooms for help.

I really want a reception by the water and I've seen pics of the Crescent Beach Club and Venetian Yacht Club that are gorgeous. Are these locations really expensive? Any suggestions on other places? I really want that 'sunset near the water pic'.

Thanks for you help in adv.

plus = and now the planning

I'm SO overwhelmed!!!

The crescent beach club is beautiful!

I got quoted $165.00 for a Saturday night in May and $180.00 for a Saturday night in August.

Re: Newly Engaged!!!

lol I know right...I am on this site all day at work, makes the time fly by!

As soon as the engagement sinks in i would start looking at halls, thats the 1st thing you should book, then church/temple (or where ever your getting married) then photographer...I think those are the 3 main important things to book first. The rest you can do later.

Happy Planning

Welcome & Congrats!

Check out the Riviera in Massapequa. It is reasonably priced and there is only 1 wedding at a time.

Congratulations!

Danfords on the Sound is on the water in Port Jefferson next to where the ferry comes in from Connecticut. They recently renovated their hotel and their ballroom and restaurant/lounge too. Definitely worth a look.

They are also having a showcase on 10/4 that I just got an email about.

Re: Newly Engaged!!!

Welcome! You will find a lot of good advice on this site, but just remember...these are only women's opinions. Everyone has different tastes...mine happens to be a very picky taste, so I take people's opinions very lightly.
I suggest you start looking at halls ASAP if you would like a summer wedding. I started looking in March and many halls only had two or three dates available for july/aug. 09. If thursday night is an option, you will have no problem.
I went to Venetian Yacht Club. I cant remember the exact quote, but it was about average...maybe 115? The views were gorgeous, but I wasn't crazy about the room. (again, my opinion...you might love it!) Chateau La Mer I went to as well b/c I loved the fact that you made your entrance in a yacht. However, every negative thing I asked about, the manager was like, 'oh that is being fixed next week, next month, next year.' or 'that won't look like that in the summer.' That just made me very nervous. Great prices, though. They start at like 70pp. I've been to Huntington Harbor Club. Nice place, but small dance floor.
Hope this helps! And again...this is just my opinion...you really need to see for yourself.

Re: Newly Engaged!!!

congrats that's so exciting!! Welcome, it IS very addicting chatting on here lol.

We're having our reception at the Riviera in Massapequa which is rite on the Great South Bay.... It's really pretty & especially if you're getting married anytime except the winter they have a beautiful place outside to get married :)

Happy planning!!

Re: Newly Engaged!!!

I'm getting married at the Harbor Club which is on Huntington Harbor. The price is definitely reasonable compared to some. It's one wedding at a time, but i think the most amount of guests you should have is 200 and that might be pushing it. so if you're thinking of more than that, it might not be a great fit. FM if you want more info!

congrats and good luck!
