Newly Engaged and Stressed!

Hi, I just got engaged a week and a half ago and it was the best day of my life! Now I have started making some phone calls and some RH are either completly booked for 2009 (Sat Nites) or only have one or two left for the whole year. I thought I was going to be able to enjoy being engaged but now I feel like I have to find a RH immediately!! ANy advice? Thanks!

I'm sure you'll find something - our RH was booked for all Saturday's in June LAST september!!! This is what got me in gear.

Quick ? - I thought most Jewish people choose Sunday's. I ope I don't offend anyone, this is just the impression I was under!

Congrats and welcome!! The first few weeks of being engaged definitely are stressful! Good luck on your search.

I saw that you called the Royalton. I'm getting married there and (obviously) LOVE it! You may want to still visit even if they have few Saturday nights left in '09.

When I booked Giorgios back in May, they were already pretty much booked up for 09. You can give them a call, who knows- but just don't fall in love with it yet!

Just start calling around- that is the biggest thing!

Call Giorgio's ASAP. I dont think they have a ton of Saturday's left in 2009. I know they have Friday's. We ended up booking for 2010. The place is beautiful and the owners are amazing to work with!

Welcome and congrats.
I planned my wedding from start to finish in under 3 months. RH, vendors, dress, etc. Many places will give you a GREAT discount if you book a day fairly soon, so they can at least book up the day and not lose money.
Also, i asked all my married friends for recommendations for vendors and i narrowed each down ...i saw 3 photographers, 3 florist, etc, so as to not drive yourself complely nuts with TOO many options.
It CAN BE DONE, IT WILL GET DONE. Just breath and try to enjoy the process....good Luck ! ! !

Most do... it is hard to get an officiant unless it is after 4pm on saturday.

Thanks for all the tips! I am actually getting excited now...this weekend I will be looking at 8 RHs (as of now) and still trying to squeeze another in if possible! I live and work inNYC so trying to see as many as possible over the weekend...trying to coordinate is pretty hard :)

That's great about the Inn at New Hyde Park! That is actually one of the RH that told me they have NO more Sat nites in 2009! It looks so pretty on the website.

Hey Congratulations!!! I too am recently engaged , so I know what you are going through. Try Douglaston Manor. I asked them for a possible date in 2009 (it isn't on a Saturday) and it was available. I have to say they did get back to me right away.

Others you can try Coral House, Brentwood Country Club, Stewart Manor Country Club.
The country clubs I have to say for the most part tend to one wedding, which is awesome.

Congrats!

Remember that even though there might only be one or two dates left at a place, one of those nights could be yours!!! I just got engaged too and needed to keep reminding myself of that.

Try to be flexible. I got engaged in April and all of the dates we wanted were already taken- So we sat in the BM's office and went through the dates with her and finally settled on one that they had open. Sunday was not my first choice but I love WM and the price and extras they gave us made it worth it. Once you settle on a RH hopefully you will feel less stressed.

I ended up booking a saturDAY wedding... it was cheaper and available in 2009. Maybe you want to think about that option???

Don't panic, you'll find something you'll like..perhaps you should look into a Friday night instead at those places. Or places that serve more than 1 wedding at a time. If not, there are other halls out there. Try North Ritz, the food is amazing.
