Newly Engaged and Stressed!

Hi, I just got engaged a week and a half ago and it was the best day of my life! Now I have started making some phone calls and some RH are either completly booked for 2009 (Sat Nites) or only have one or two left for the whole year. I thought I was going to be able to enjoy being engaged but now I feel like I have to find a RH immediately!! ANy advice? Thanks!

Welcome and congrats!!

Which places have you called already??
Maybe just by knowing where you've looked, we can suggest other places for you to call! There's plenty of RHs out there

I got engaged back in April, and originially wanted November 2009. Once I narrowed it down to 2 RH's, only the one had one saturday night left!! I was shocked just like you! There are places out there that still have dates available you just need to hunt and reserach. However, I wouldn't wait too long.

Thank you. I have called Westbury Manor, the Inn at New Hyde Park, The Bourne Mansion, Villa Lombardi's, the Woodlands, Woodbury CC, and the Royalton

Hi.. I felt like that too but when I started to look i realized there are alot or RH's out there!. When I went to book with Larkfield they only had two sat nights available in Sept. so I asked them to hold one for me for a week as I looked at other places. It will work out trust me! I was really stressed too

OMG - i was sooooo stressed the first 2 or 3 weeks of my engagement too!! But once i got the hall booked, everything else just kinda fell into place. My suggestion is to get thru all the 'bigger' things like the RH, the DJ, and the Photographer. After you have those, you'll start enjoying being engaged a LOT more!

Don't worry about not finding a hall. there are a lot of 'em. It depends on what you're looking for.

Thanks, I was actually thinking of calling those places (North Ritz, Crest Hollow, East wind) today.
And to add to the stress FH keeps saying lets just have a destination wedding!!

Don't be stressed there are tons of places that are on Long Island. I am getting married Nov 7th 2009 @ Flowerfield. Try Glen Island in Westchester, or Giorgio's out in Suffolk.

haha. Count your blessings. My FH kept telling me that we should just go the court house. I guess that was sweet considering that he really just wanted to be married to me already without all the stress, but i'm a GIRL and I need a wedding!!!! Jeez. I love that man. lol

Thank you all for the advice. I just wanted to vent to people who could understand!! Hopefully after this weekend of running around with my mom I will have a better idea of what is out there.

Don't know if you're set on a Sat night either but you might consider friday or sunday too. first I was all set on sat but loved my RH which was cheaper and more avail on sunday. .

I know, it seems if I could be flexible with the day then I will have more options. Friday night is out because FH is jewish although not religious I have already been told by his family it can not be on a Friday so I am goingt o try for a sat at least for now and maybe be flexible to a sunday down the road.

Just wanted to say welcome and congrats on your engagement

I completely understand the stress of finding a RH!! But make sure you guys are also enjoying this time because it starts to fly by!! We got engaged in April and just booked our RH last week. I would definately recommend East Wind
Being flexible on the day may also offer you more options!! Good luck!!
