Newly engaged looking for help with venue search. Pppplllleeeeaaassee

Original post by MnR311

Hey guys! I'm new to the forum. Newly engaged to my best friend and need tons of help with my venue search :( my fiancé and I are looking at a march or April Sunday 2013 wedding. Were flexible on dates and times. On a budget ( like most) but still looking for something beautiful and classy. Currently want to check out westbury manor, chateu briand, Venetian yacht club, crest hollow country club, and chateau la mer. If anyone as any prices for a Sunday wedding in 2013 or present I would greatly appreciate it. Fiancé works 65 hours a week just to help pay for our wedding :( so our time is very limited kinda doing a lot of the work myself so ANY help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!! Xoxo

You can def email places to get pricing and availability. You will prolly have to negotiate in person but it will help cut down how many places to visit.

Congratulations! It looks like you're doing a lot of work very quickly and that's wonderful - I am also VERY happy that you discovered a wholesale florist on your own - I'm doing something similar and there was no way I was going to spend over $100 for one bouquet!

As for halls, I recommend taking a look at The WaterView Club, which is right on the beach and I talked them down to $70 pp for a Sunday in July (so off-season it might be even easier to get that price or lower). It's where I'm getting married and it's really classy-looking but still small and simple at the same time. Plus it's right on the beach!

Also, Larkfield Manor offered me $60 pp for a Sunday during the daytime this summer, but I hear that their prices are going up considerably after their renovations this winter so I'm not sure what that will look like.

Sunset Harbour also offered me $60 pp. I don't really have anything to say about it, because my mom went and visited it, not me, but it's a good price so it might be worth looking into.

Woodlands on the Greens, the sister hall to Woodlands at Woodbury, is doing a special right now for $70 pp for a daytime wedding and $80 pp for a nighttime wedding. I'm not sure what their prices look like next spring, but it might be worth looking into.

I actually really liked all of these places, and even though it wasn't the cheapest I went with the waterview club, because I really didn't want the stuffy hall feeling that a lot of long island receptions have, and having it right on the beach will really help make that better.

Good luck! If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

I understand the worries about people having to travel! Actually the WaterView Club is in Bayville, right outside of Queens, so it's about an hour from my parents in Speonk and 45 minutes from Manhattan so it was a good compromise (since we have people coming from all over!)

Good luck! I found it frustrating that people won't give you quotes over email either. Even if they just give me an idea of pricing, that could make or break my decision!

I know right!! It kinda makes me not want to make an appt to see them when they do that cause theres no point in seeing a place and loving it but then totally not being able to afford it :/

Once i book the date and venue i feel like i can really start to plan in full force. Hopefully with all these appt i made this week i find something i love. What did the waterview Club quote you per person?

QUESTION FOR YOU LADIES: Its suppose to be in the high 60's this weekend me and my FH were looking into taking engagement pics this weekend. Where can we go? A friend has a really good camera and said she would take them for us. i was thinking old westbury gardens. do i have to pay to take pictures there? If so, how much? the website said its $10 to enter and as long as were not using tripod or equipment like that it should be ok. is that true? HELP! lol

Waterview club quoted me $80 per person, but that was for mid summer and I was able to talk them down to $70. I hope you find something you love too!

Congrats!!!! I really like chateau la mer. I wasn't happy with the location to get married indoors in case it rains. I was worried to take the risk on the weather. I think if you get married at a church or found a place that you love the indoors and outdoors in case the weather doesn't hold up. I can't recall the quote I got but sunday day is cheapier anywhere. I definitely think you should check Cresthollow. I'm on a budget and a day wedding is reasonable. Good luck and happy planning!!!

Bride2012, thank u sooo much! Cresthollow looks beautiful and very close to where i live im just hoping the price is good. Thats my fear the rain part but im praying it doesnt rain and outside reception is possible and would be beautiful. any other suggestions or quotes u can provide me i would really appreciate it. Im making appts this week to see places since i teach and where off this week from school.

My parents got a great deal at Cresthollow for a saturday day wedding. Saturday night however is a lot!!! But that is the case with many places. When I went to see the place it was down pouring and they were setting up ceremonies inside and they were just as beautiful as outside.

Hi all, I am also newly engaged and am new to the world of wedding planning :) I was wondering if someone could message me their quotes for the Venetian and Thatched Cottage if anyone looked there? My FH and I are planning to make appts at both but can't do so for a little while as I am away at grad school-- I'd love to get somewhat of an idea! Thank you!
