Newly Engaged, Need Guidance

Original post by LadyMG

Hi everyone!!! I just recently got engaged, and my FH and i have started looking at RH’s. We are planning to have about 250-300 guests, and have begun our search for the perfect RH at Carlyle on the Green and Carltun on the Park. I was happy with the overall look of both places, though the Carlyle's beautiful ceremony room and elegant conservatory were breathtaking!! As i walked through their ballroom I could picture myself dancing and laughing with my FH and truly having our wedding there. My FH has convinced me to keep looking as these are the only 2 places we have been to. I am hoping some of you may be able to shine some light on a few other places and how they compare with the Carlyle and the Carltun.

The Inn at New Hyde Park
Oheka Castle
The Garden City Hotel
Woodbury Jewish Center
And
Temple Israel of Lawrence

If you have any other RH's that you think i might like pleaaaaase share that information with me!! As i stated earlier i will be having appx 250-300 people and thankfully money is not an issue as the parents are paying for it as our wedding gift.

I attended a wedding there last year and I thought it was nice, but not AMAZING. For that price it better be amazing!!

The food was average and the staff was sometimes less than average. I didn't care for the way the place was broken out. But I have also heard people so the complete opposite. So go with what you like.

First off congrats and welcome to LIW!

If you're willing to go to Queens I would also look at Russo's on the Bay, Terrace on the Park. In Long Island- there's the Sand Castle, Leonard's, Coral House offhand that I can think about.

Temple Israel of Lawrence is nice though as is New Hyde Park Inn- I was looking there and that was originally my first choice before we went to Russo's- I totally fell in love with Russo's and they really do a top notch job there.. I am not just saying that because my wedding will be there but it's well worth the trip to check it out. I lived in the Rockaways for over 20 years and my dream was getting married at Russo's (I didn't think they'd fit in our budget which is why I hesitated to go there at first) but they did so we're getting married there.

I would probably say pass on Coral House.

Yes you're right - forget that one and that I even mentioned Coral House- idk why I did -must have been having a dumb moment... when I went there it was a total waste of my time- only thing I liked about the place was the view from inside the room he showed FH- rest I was like 'eh- no thanks'

I definitely reccomend the Carlyle on the Green... I would have loved to have my wedding there, but we don't have enough ppl to fill the room without looking lost in there.
I worked there as a receptionist about 5yrs ago, and every wedding that I saw there was absolutely AMAZING!!!

I'm not sure of the capacity, but Floral Terrace is beautiful. I went to a wedding there and the food was amazing!

I second that, the place is really nice and I believe it can hold that amount of people. I'm having my reception there, so if you have any questions feel free to contact me
