Hi everyone!!! I just recently got engaged, and my FH and i have started looking at RH’s. We are planning to have about 250-300 guests, and have begun our search for the perfect RH at Carlyle on the Green and Carltun on the Park. I was happy with the overall look of both places, though the Carlyle's beautiful ceremony room and elegant conservatory were breathtaking!! As i walked through their ballroom I could picture myself dancing and laughing with my FH and truly having our wedding there. My FH has convinced me to keep looking as these are the only 2 places we have been to. I am hoping some of you may be able to shine some light on a few other places and how they compare with the Carlyle and the Carltun.
The Inn at New Hyde Park Oheka Castle The Garden City Hotel Woodbury Jewish Center And Temple Israel of Lawrence
If you have any other RH's that you think i might like pleaaaaase share that information with me!! As i stated earlier i will be having appx 250-300 people and thankfully money is not an issue as the parents are paying for it as our wedding gift.

AGREED! My dream was to have my wedding there since I first stepped foot in that place at 15! After reality set in and realized I'd be in debt forever...I gave up my dream If you have the $$$$$ OHEKA all the way!

I had 240 people at the Royalton, and I thought it was perfect. They told me it was tight over 250 people, so don't worry about having 200.

If you're willing to go to NYC. Gotham Hall is amazing, Cipriani on Wall Street is stunning and Capitale is great. I've been to big events at all three locations and they are PHENOMENAL and the food has been fantastic. Another place to look at is Angel Oresanz (where Sarah Jessica Parker got married. It was a former temple) AND the Foundry in Long Island city, though I'm not quite sure what the capacity is....
Good luck! I HTH!!!!

collette--I have heard a lot of negative things about Oheka though--I had my heart set on it but supposedly the food is rather mediocre & the staff could be better-- imho everyone is paying for the scenery and the name-- everything else is just average-- someone suggested just going there to take pictures-- but its not that serious to me-- i thought i would add this --

Congrats and welcome! Before booking my FH and I looked at the Garden City Hotel, the Carltun and Inn at NHP (which is where we booked).
The BM wasn't too interested in booking us at the Carltun after the second visit, so we ruled it out.
Garden City Hotel was actually sold about 3 days ago. Although we thought it was beautiful and thoroughly enjoyed all of the affairs that we've attended there, we were VERY skeptical about booking while it was for sale. There were talks a few months ago about turning everything into condos - not sure what the new owners are planning to do. Just be aware and ask good questions if you decide to place a visit.
I'm clearly very biased about the Inn at NHP, but we really thought it was a wonderful place. Everything is new and absolutely beautiful. Based on the RHs that you mentioned, I believe that you will be impressed. If you go there, you should meet with Frank Marino. He's the general managing partner and really wants to make every bride's dreams come true!!! Check out the website! http://www.innatnhp.com
Good luck with your search and remember that the choice is ultimately up to YOU! It's you and your FH's day!!

I'm not sure of the capacity, but Floral Terrace is beautiful. I went to a wedding there and the food was amazing!

If you don't have a budget - Oheka is gorgeous. Garden City Hotel is beautiful too. Terrace on the Park is where we're having it - they have a penthouse room that I heard is beautiful.

Re: Newly Engaged, Need Guidance
I can't imagine that Oheka could get away with being mediocre with those prices. I'd love to attend a wedding there!
Too expensive for us, plus the decor isn't really my taste, but the grounds are beautiful! I'm sure the food has to be great too.
