newly engaged with ?s

Original post by jennd426

Hey girls!! I just recently got engaged and want to start looking at venues. I would love our date to be Oct. 26, 2012. Im hoping for a beautiful place both inside and out with great food. I would love to stay under $115pp and don't want to travel too far. I live in central suffolk and would love to find a place in Suffolk County. Although I looked at Jericho Terrace online and loved the photos. So as long as it is not a hour away im willing to travel for my dream place.

I'm open and thankful for any suggestions!! Thank you ladies!!!

2011 Crasherrrrrrrr..

I'm telling you right now...you are going to fall in love with Giorgio's!!! It's amazing inside and out, so, I wouldn't even suggest any others...BUT for the sake of being helpful...like some of the other girls said, Bellport Country Club is very pretty and I would have liked it there had there been enough room...and Larkfield Manor also has a nice outdoor area as well.

Good luck with your search!

Hey girls! thanks so much for all the responses!! Tom. I go to look at Giorgios! AHHHH!!!! I'm so excited!!! It is the first venue we are looking at!! I am also going to look at Captain Bill's and Lombardi's on the Bay on Thursday! We are gonna call Bellport Country Club and set up an appointment with them too. I'm so excited!!!

So my FH and I have looked at 7 places on LI and we were at Giorgio's on Sunday and FELL IN LOVE!!! It had everything we wanted and more and Robert was amazing. We put a deposit down and we're going back tomorrow morning with both sets of parents to get the final approval, I haven't been able to sleep the past 2 nights because I can't stop thinking about the place, it is so amazing you're gonna love it!!! What time are you going tomorrow? I'll be there in the AM at 10:30.

OMG! We met with Robert too! He was amazing! My FH loved how honest he was with us. I feel like I would have my fantasy wedding there. They gave us a good price, but it is still very expensive. I think we are gonna go look at a couple of other places and compare them. My dad also won't let us book a place without him seeing it, so I will have to wait for his approval LOL

I went at 6pm. Sorry it takes so long for me to respond. I have been working OT to save for my dream wedding :) How did your appt. go with the parents??

It was awesome...we knew our parents would love it but we just wanted the final approval since they're helping lay for the wedding. There's honestly nothing about the place that I don't love and can be picky about details lol. We got to try some food yesterday and it was amazing, I've heard nothing but great things about the food from friends that have been there for weddings. They have a brunch every Sunday so we're going to go a bunch in the next year and a half.
I hear you about the budget, it was a little over ours if we keep our list 175-200 if we bring it down to 150 we're OK but doubt that will happen. The way we felt was we loved it so much andwe clickedwith Robert, we'll make it happen, and we don't need to do much with decor which we would have in other places.
If you go back or talk to Robert you have to tell him we were chatting on here (my name is Alex) .

Where else are you going to look? Maybe we looked and I can give you some of my research.

Re: newly engaged with ?s

Hey Alex!! I'm so happy for you, and jealous LOL You will have the wedding of your dreams! Congrats!!!

We went to Lombardi's on the Bay today, I was so unhappy with everything! I didn't like the manager we met with. He kept bashing every other place AND they gave us a quote over Giorgio's and you can't compare the two. Rob at Giorgio's was just amazing and was truly honest with us. I am def. going to see him again in a couple weeks. I also want to go there for Brunch one Sunday too! I was thinking about doing a mother's day brunch there with my family, but they are booking up quick so I'll have to see about that.

We also went to Bellport Country Club today and that was a nice place. But the parking lot was so dark and had potholes, which i didn't like. Everything else there was nice.

We still have appts. with Jericho Terrace and Captain Bill's next week. Did you look there at all?? What other places did you check out? Did the compare to Giorgio's at all??

Thanks for your info girl!! And congrats again!!!

You're so very welcome!! I'm glad I could help even a little bit, I'm so grateful for this web site, I was on here poking around and heard great things about Giorgio's and that's why we checked it out! So if I can help someone that's awesome!

Here are the places we looked:
Montauk Yacht Club
Gurney's Inn and Spa
Indigo Blue-East End Hotel
Waterview Club-Bayville
The Metropolitan-Glen Cove
Giorgio's
Mirabelle-Three Village Inn
Old Field Club
And then I've been to probably 8 more places on LI for weddings...

We had certain things we wanted which helped us narrow down places to look at, obviously budget, lots of outdoor space because our ceremony is on site and we love the outdoors, FOOD and decor. I knew what I wanted and was getting so overwhelmed traveling around going to places that just weren't making me excited, you'll get to this point of frustration and then all of a sudden you'll find the place that's just perfect, even if it's not Giorgio's for you :) Each person has a perfect place.
None of the other places had everything we wanted, The Metropolitan was a good price at $110 a head for a Saturday but no outdoor area that we wanted.
We're going to have our E-Party at captain bill's I think, I haven't been there but i've heard awesome things, one of my friends got married there and she said it was awesome. I had my prom at Jericho Terrace in 1999 lol, and it was gorgeous so I'm only guessing it's gotten better in the past 11 years haha.
We're already planning dates to go for brunch, we'll be there a lot over the next year and a half! feel free to FM if you need anything else I know the process of venue shopping can get a little overwhelming :)and let me know when you're going back to Giorgio's! You'll find your perfect place soon!
