Newlyweds: Day before

Newlyweds: Day before

Other than the mani-pedi, what else needs to be done the day before your wedding? My family is thinking of holding a bridal shower for my cousin the day before my wedding and I wasnt sure if I could go because I have this notion there's a lot of running around to do. Can you tell me what yours was like?

um, YAY! the day is about YOU! not your cousin's shower. i woke up late, had a nice breakfast, got a mani-pedi, laid out my outfit for the rehearsal dinner, cried a little, spoke to my friends....

I am not a newlywed but I would not want to go to a shower the day before the wedding. I plan on relaxing as best as I can...lol.

Yeah..I agree Jenn...you shouldn't be running around for someone else's shower. You need to relax and you need to have the time for the just in case last minute stuff. You never know. Can't they wait on the shower?

I think you should skip the shower! RELAX all day. I dropped my stuff off at the RD site, got a manicure and pedicure.

I know...... I just dont want to be selfish. Im not going to lie though, Im a little bit upset by it. But the way things have been going, its never really about me anyway
She's from florida and will only be up for the weekend. But what I dont get is, wouldnt it make more sense to have it in florida? I mean what is she going to do with all the gifts? Whatever, I've just about thrown in the towel anyway.

we had the Rehersal dinner 2 days before the wedding and went out after so I spent most of the day relaxing and recovering...I would forgo the shower and relax all day long.

We had our rehearsal dinner two nights before too. That left me with not much to do the day before. Just nails...I actually went to a friends christening and then just relaxed...or tried to at least!

How about not committing to anything. Just see how it goes. If you can make it, you come, if something comes up, you don't.

I am sorry but thats not being selfish! Its not your problem that she lives in Florida - that day and the next day is all about YOU and FH!

I agree with Heather. It is not being selfish. I think it is ridiculous they would have a shower the day before your wedding. I would put your foot down and say no way.

I agree, see how it goes. Sleep a little late. Make your mani/pedi/waxing appointments. Take your MOH to lunch. Do things to keep your mind relaxed and focused on you. If you have time, stop by and say hello, but I wouldn't commit to anything - you never know what last minute things you may have to do that day.

I had the reheasal dinner, and did a lit of last minute organizing and printed place cards, etc...

I think they could have it, btu you shouldnt go - you will find too many last minute things to do and if not - REST!!

I would say skip the shower. A lot of little things come up the day before and you need to focus on those and yourself. I spent the day before at the spa, trying to relax and making sure everything was taken care of. It is not being selfish. It is just you put a lot of time and effort into your wedding that you need to see the whole thing through. Your cousin will understand when it is her time.

i wouldn't have done a shower! i got a mani/pedi with some girls, got stuff together, had a bbq, talked to my family, played dressup, did some more alterations (yup, we were sewing at midnight b/c the dress was too big). it's about you!!!

I did a lot of last minute stuff the day before. and greeted our OOT guests as they arrived at the hotel. I could NOT imagine having to go to a shower the day before. I can't believe they want to do that the day before your weddding. wow!

I would skip the shower- that day is for relaxing as best as you can and taking a moment to reflect on YOUR wedding.

Re: Newlyweds: Day before

The day before I did...

1) Mani and pedi for myself and sister (BM)
2) Picked up my dad and family from the airport, set them up in their new hotel and ordered them dinner
3) Had DH drop off favors, cake topper, server, flutes and instructions at hall
4) Made a million phone calls to confirm everything
5) Packed EVERYTHING for the HM...

Needless to say I was NOT relaxed...I got home about 11pm from the ordeal with my dad and didn't go to bed until 1am...woke up at 5am (woke up mom to finish my dress!) and started getting ready for the wedding...

If you could squeeze relaxation into YOUR day before - please do! Trust me!

ETA: My RD was Tuesday (wedding was Friday) so I didn't have that looming over my head.

Re: Newlyweds: Day before

Here is what the knot says for day before:

Also - when is your RD?

DAY BEFORE

Rehearse the ceremony with officiant and wedding party.
Confirm all specific honeymoon travel plans (including transportation to airport, etc.).
Give wedding announcements to your honor attendant to be mailed on the wedding day.
Brides: Pull together wedding gown, veil, shoes, stockings, and a last-minute emergency kit (aspirin, makeup, safety pins, mints, etc.).
Have fun and relax at your rehearsal dinner.
If your wedding is in the a.m., set your alarm and arrange for a backup.
Get some much-needed sleep -- if you can!
Drop off favors, guest book, and pen at the reception site.
