So, I'm trying to do a destination wedding but not too far that people won't come.
I fell in love with the Castle Hill Inn but its just out of my price range, $300+ PP. And their minimum is around double of the amount of guests we want to have (60-80).http://www.castlehillinn.com/Weddings/ Sigh.
My question is this--for any of you who go to Newport often, is there somewhere you recommend looking? I like these two but have to call tomorrow and check out prices...

And then lastly, have you been to any Newport weddings and were they amazing?
Thanks ladies!

Re: Newport, RI Weddings...
Hi, I went to college in Newport, RI. It's generally an expensive town for anything including weddings, hotels, etc. Castle Hill Inn is very expensive but it's amazing there. You can't beat it. Also look into Ocean Cliff which is right near it. They might be around the same price though. You can also get married at one of the Newport Historical Society mansions. I'm not sure how much they cost but do a search on google or something and you might be able to find out. Also do a search of restaurants and hotels in the town. They might be able to accommodate for weddings. The Viking Hotel, the Marriott, and the Hyatt on Goat Island are probably the nicest. Hope this helped.

Re: Newport, RI Weddings...
i went to school in ri and love newport!
when we got engaged, a destination wedding in newport is something we talked about. logistically it didn't work for us ... it probably would have cost us more than having it locally b/c we would have ended up paying for some family members to be there in addition to all the regular wedding expenses.
I was quoted about $130.00 per person plus a site fee.
Here are some pics
This is the room I wanted but it only holds 100. They have another room that holds around 300.
That place is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! How are the grounds? Waterview?

I just called Ocean Cliff, he said its like 40K regardless, the site fee is expensive and minimum is higher than my anticipated guests.
He did talk to me about this place though which I like...its a new property, its only the second year its been open...and I think I like (and its only $75PP!) http://www.newportexperience.com/regattaplace.htm
