The wedding had been picturesque, atop Bayville sands along the Long Island Sound.
But as the bride's family, prominent members of the Long Beach community, headed home from the celebration early Saturday, a drunken driver going the wrong way on the Meadowbrook Parkway slammed head-on into their limousine, state police said.
Two were killed, including the bride's 7-year-old niece, a flower girl in the wedding. Six more were injured, the most critical a Long Beach city council candidate.
In times of joy such as your wedding, dont' take life for granted. enjoy each and every moment.... i pray for the the young girl family.
i tried to look up the bride/groom but it appears they are not listed here. The wedding was at the Crescent Beach Club

Re: Newsday wedding accident on LI
I am so sad, that makes me feel sick to my stomach. How can that happen to religious happy people? What is wrong with life that that happens to such innocent people?

Does anyone know if this family is related to Kristen and Michael Tangney? I believe they are. I taught Kristen two years ago at Long Beach High School.

Re: Newsday wedding accident on LI
I try not to have hate for people but this man who ruined the lives of so many deserves a long and miserable life in jail. There are so many alternatives when drinking..Why did he get in that car? I just pray for the family so innocently involved. Wishing you all a happy and SAFE 4th!!

Re: Newsday wedding accident on LI
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. It is such a horrific tragedy to happen to anyone. I hope that man gets punished to the fullest extent of the law. I hope he suffers for the rest of his life just like this poor family who will be suffering for the rest of their lives.

The bride was Kristen Tangney and among those injured critically were her parents. The flower girl and limo driver were killed.

Re: Newsday wedding accident on LI
I can't understand with all the things that are always taught about drunk driving that people still get in a car and drive. And that other people let them! For him to be driving on the wrong side of the road, he must have been totally drunk... It so sad how many people lose their lives due to others stupidity and recklessness.
