Ok so I want to book my photographer next because I feel that is high on my important list.
What are some prices you have gotten? Any specific things I should ask? Are you getting parent albums since you can make them for really cheap online?

I went to Thomas Paul, Lighthouse, ADA, & Sherwood Triart. Sherwood Triart is incredibly expensive but their work is phenomenal! ADA wasnt that great; they kinda bad-mouthed other places and I definitely didn't like that - their price was ok. Lighthouse had great prices and photos... Florio is really nice and their video was different than most I've seen and absolutely beautiful! Thomas Paul's price is definitely right for all u get with it, incredible photos, and video is great - hes a great guy and u immediately feel comfortable with him once u sit down with him!!!

I want to three places to look...and all the places where so different from one another and the place that we when with had packages and we can take out stuff ..like the parent albums b/c they are going to look at it once and thats it ...so we are getting big pictures and we r putting them in a nice frames for them ...its a different idea and i think way better... but the most important question you are going to ask them is ...make sure u have the rights to all your photos ...and i dunno if you are going to do this but im having both photo and video and they come together ...some places dont do it together just double check on that too..and if they have packages too ask them if u r allowed to take stuff out that you dont need...good luck!@

I met with Thomas Paul and Gil from Fade to black, and loved them so much that i basically stoped looking. They both work with your prices and do amazing work. In the end, i went with TP for photo and Gil for Video....i just couldnt decide on one!

We only meet with Lighthouse and I just sent emails to other places. FH really wanted Lighthouse but he was willing to look at others if I wanted to but after we went I knew it was right for us. Some things I had on my list to ask were about the rights to the photos, when do you pick what books and if you can change after the wedding (books are always being updated), the number of hours and change for overtime, if they stay till the end reception or just till cake.

Maybe free hours or extra prints, not sure what else you could get for free. (Although I didn't try.) Also were paying by cash so we don't have to pay tax.

Gil from Fade to Black is really awesome and he works with your budget. One thing I also really liked about him is he doesnt make you pay in full before you get your album/dvds. The last 25% of your total is split in 1/2 and payed upon pickup. Out of the 3 places I met with he was the only 1 who did that.

I went to Patken. I thought that guy was very nice. As for the price we have nothing else to base it on yet. We are going to go look at ADA And Thomas Paul hopefully within the next few weeks. I really want to book a photographer because I want to do engagement photos! FH does not understand why I want to book things so soon. He wants to wait and it's KILLING me lol.

The benefits of booking early are you're more likely to book who u want and not risk them being booked already, u know exactly how much money you're spending and can budget accordingly, whatever you book this yr you are getting 2011 prices for a 2013 wedding!! Get your FH on board lol

Re: Next..
I highly recommend checking out fade to black. They are great!
Some Questions I asked were; If engagement shoot was included? If so how many photos and in studio or on location? If thank you cards are included and options of them? Album styles Album options/number of photos included Parent albums included/price? Bridal party photos included? Portraits-how many? What sizes? Extra charges-overtime? Photo retouching? Traveling? Deposits? Payment schedule? Will you meet your photographer ahead of time? 4x6 loose proofs? Hi-res cd?
Make sure you have the rights to your photos! I met with fade to black, chuck Marcy, velvet studios, Madison ave, park ave, Franklin square photography, a beautiful day photography, deja vu, lighthouse, a maybe a few others, so FM me for any details!

FH & I met with Lighthouse this weekend, and thought Florio was absolutely incredible. Although, we're still going to check out a few other photographers- we were really happy with the work we saw at Lighthouse.

My Photographer also does this. The Velvet Studio.
