Re: grossly overbudget - what are financing options for wedding
Don't. Don't fnance. I know you feel you must have some things, and maybe you're already booked for certain things, but it's really foolish to spend money you don't have for one day. If you haven't done invites yet, cut your guest list. If your parents and your fiance's parents want you to invite too many people, either cut them or ask your parents to contribute more money. Weddings are wonderful, and they're a day you will remember always, but they are only ONE day. It feels as if you get on the bridal train and everyone has things and they look good to you and you want them too. But, you could mess up your finances for years with this. You might figure that you'll get enough money as gifts to pay it back, but, what if you didn't? You wouldn't be the first couple surprised that way, it happens all the time. And these things add up--you need to make the payments on the 0% card, or else the charges will hit you, so then you're late with something else, and then the car breaks down, and you're short, so you can't pay the card, and you're stuck with huge finance charges! There are many, many ways you can cut back on weddings, from doing the invites yourself to getting the flowers online, to skipping the second limo to cutting back on the photos. The best thing is to decide what is the most important thing to you. Keep that. Start cutting other things. Buffets are cheaper than sit down dinners. Cut the Viennese table--everyone's so stuffed they don't eat much of it anyway! Just have wedding cake for dessert. If you haven't bought your gown yet, maybe you could have one copied rather than buying a designer model, or buy it from Net Bride or RK Bridal. You could save a ton of money just by getting a beautifl Casablanca gown for $1000 rather than a designer number for $2000-3000.
Good luck. You dont HAVE to have anything at a wedding other than a happy couple, a marriage license, and an officiant. Everything else is extras.

If you need some suggestions...I can help. Our wedding is only going to cost me 17k total with everything...thats for 160 people. It really helps to have your wedding on an off season the hall and vendors are willing to work with you. Also if you save up the money first then book 2 or 3 months before your day the hall will give you a massive discount. What some people are forgetting is that...a wedding reception is to celebrate you and your husband...its a party to celebrate your marriage AND your future together...if you cannot afford a certain thing..dont stress over it, dont book it and continue to look on. There is nothing better then just appreciating that you have each other...in the end its the marriage that you will have and your pictures to remember. You most certainly dont want to stress over one of the most important days of your life!! I am making my own centerpieces, my own table holders, and im getting my rose pedals from cosco! I am making my own bouquets from silk flowers, they look very nice and I plan on keep it to always have and remember. I could spend more on my wedding, much more, but I realize what it important, and being in debt is certainly NOT one of them! Good luck, Im sure everything will work out to be okay.
