My FH and I are possibly considering having a nice intimate dinner after our ceremony instead of a huge reception. We're strapped for cash because we just bought a house, but we still want to have something. We're thinking about next October or November.
Does anyone know of a really nice, intimate restaurant that could accomodate 80-100 people?

I can't think of a restaurant, but I'm having a 100-person cocktail reception at Danford's. FM me if you want details.

wherever you go, when you tell them 80-100 people, they'll ask what its for and as soon as they hear wedding....up go the prices.

Dont say wedding. Tell them its just a party. They steal your $$$ when they hear wedding.

Whereabouts aore you thinking of? We have been to restaurant wedding parties and they have been some of the most intimate and beautiful weddings of all.

Well, our ceremony will be in Floral Park, at my mom's church. There are about 3 restaurants that I was thinking about that are really close to the church. I just dont want to make my guests drive very far. I would say that any place within 45 mins would be nice.

I agree that you should not mention it's a wedding.
Have you looked into New Hyde Park Inn? They have some nice private rooms and are very reasonably priced.

I agree about not saying wedding. I've heard about some really good prices at Come Prima in Copiague...also maybe try Tazio on Sunrise Hwy in Wantagh.

I know the owners of Collins and Main restaurant in Sayville. They do private parties on Sundays. So you would have the whole restaurant to yourself. It only holds up to 110....great food.

Papa Joe's in Commack has a really nice room that can hold that many- I was surprised at how nice it was. You may want to check them out.

Re: nice dinner instead of reception?
I think Koenings in Floral Park has a private room for Parties. I second New Hyde Park Inn. I grew up at that place, my shower was there, my mom, aunt and two cousins had their weddings there. They are very reasonable. I don't know if I would not tell them its a wedding. I think even though it will be a smaller affair, there will still be things that you'll have to plan with a place. and 80 - 100 is not really that that small. You could also try places like the schooner in Freeport, or other restaurant that you might like, they may be willing to close the whole restaurant down for your affair!! Good Luck!!

Try Napa and Sonoma in Garden City. Very pretty atmosphere, food is excellent and so is the staff. Frank is the owner. Good Luck!

I know someone who went to La MArmamite in East Williston for a few big dinner parties. Its on Hillside Ave. I've never been there but I heard its very reasonable and great. It's French, I beleive, check it out.

Thanks ladies! I'm definately going to look into all of these places. Many of these places are pretty close to our church where the ceremony is. I definately appreciate all of the help from you guys!
