Nice win, Mets!

If you guys could only play every night like that..... great job tonite.

I'll give them the win that they earned...BUT as I watched the commentaries afterwards, even the announcers had to admit it was just a few simple Yankee errors, or lack of judgements that won them the game...could it be that they played a 13 inning game the night before..I say YES
But OF course I have to stick up for my Yanks....AND I'd like to say Boston had a nice humilating loss in extra innings last night as well

Excuses yes...THE BETTER TEAM? Thats really far fetched dont ya think?
The mets are what in THIRD place in their division...and the Yankees are in FIRST( way ahead of all other teams I may add) ...so when the MET's get into first place and stay there and then win against the Yankees I will give you ' the better team'.

but for now

Well we might not be the better team overall but we were the better team last night Matsui busting out the big bat with 2 HR's, now if he can only throw to first base on a regular basis we might have something here

you misread -- i mean that last night the mets were the better team

of course, i think the yankee greatness is overestimated since they are in the easiest division in MLB

plus, we're now TWO games back - -Philly lost last night

ok...sure...like I said...when the METS are tops in their division with at least 8 games ahead of the second team..we will even say 4 games ( since its a harder division ) then, I will agree with you that they are a good team...Lets also not forget that its only July so the standing mean nothing because the Mets usually play ok baseball till the pressure hits...I do give you that their pitching is much better then in last seasons and I believe that the team is better this year then last so I think they will do 'better' but they are not a championship team..simple as that, no matter how much you want them to win, all fans do..but I dont think they will in the end...

What are you talking about? I was talking about last nights game, not about last year?

Whoever wins the World Series is more then not, probably the best team...but...ummm......we werent talking about the 2003 World Series...go have another cup of coffee...

I think we have it what it takes to make a playoff run -- but not win the World Series -- not just yet

But, the Yankees won't win either, they'll make the playoffs but they're pitching will be the downfall

Ok...heres the deal...the METS PLAYED better last night, I give you that because obviosuly THEY WON...this is a FACT...are they a better team overall....NO..thats also a FACT based on standings...no excuses needed...

and yes, can the mets make a run for the playoff's this year...I as a YANKEE fan..say yes they can, Im also a baseball fan and think they have a very good chance...at the begining I was not so sure...as they have been playing now ( and I unfortunatly watch them alot as FH is a MET (yuck)..lol fan) I think they have as good a shot as anyone...

Good point... and if a team with a weak offence like the Mets can beat the crap out of Mussina... just like the above poster said.

The Yanks aren't going anywhere with their pitching. There also aren't any decent pitchers left for trade. Kris Benson is available from Pittsburgh... but the Mets would more likely get him for Wiggington. Randy Johnson might be available... but he has veto rights over any trade and I doubt he would want to come to NY since he already has his ring against you know who.

Remember pitching and defense wins championships.
