I'll give them the win that they earned...BUT as I watched the commentaries afterwards, even the announcers had to admit it was just a few simple Yankee errors, or lack of judgements that won them the game...could it be that they played a 13 inning game the night before..I say YES
But OF course I have to stick up for my Yanks....AND I'd like to say Boston had a nice humilating loss in extra innings last night as well

typical yankee fans -- excuses, excuses, excuses

face it -- the better team won last night

pardon....wasn't it YOU yesterday who said THE SAME THING!!!!

It isn't an excuse i happened to be in the company of a bunch of Mets fans while watching the game and they admitted that the win was most likely due to the Yank-Sox game the night before...

Excuses ...that coming from the KING OF EXCUSES...

It was played well by the Mets...yes but you have to admit that the Yanks were at a disadvantage
And to be quite frank, i'd rather lose to the Mets then the Soxs! The soxs are a much better team making the win all the sweeter!
Last night...well i will be more impressed if they win the next games!

Good point... and if a team with a weak offence like the Mets can beat the crap out of Mussina... just like the above poster said.

The Yanks aren't going anywhere with their pitching. There also aren't any decent pitchers left for trade. Kris Benson is available from Pittsburgh... but the Mets would more likely get him for Wiggington. Randy Johnson might be available... but he has veto rights over any trade and I doubt he would want to come to NY since he already has his ring against you know who.

Remember pitching and defense wins championships.

'The Yanks arent going anywhere with their pitching'? UMMM ...Hello...do you own a TV? The Yanks are in first place with the Red Sox over 8 games behind and we wont talk about how behind everyone else is from them...so yes, their pitching has been better in previous seasons but ummmmmm...they are certaintly still number 1 and are obviously going somewhere.....

Talking the facts is one thing, talking unsubstantiated crap out of jealous is another....lol...sorry couldnt help myself..its all in good fun

Like I said, the players were the ones who were tired, but Mussina had a couple days rest. He didnt play the night before, so whats his excuse. We got the hits off of Mussina, was he tired from watching the Yankees play last night???

Re: Nice win, Mets!

Mussina didnt lose the game for the Yank's, the outfielders mistakes and some other errors were the fault...mussina has NEVER given up a left handed home run and he gave up two last night..so my opinion of that is that was his only flaw...it was either time or luck, but thats only two runs...I watched the post game shows all night...everyone admitted the mets got a good 7 undeserved runs...undeserved as far as the yanks imply not being on top of their game...so yes they won, they played better last night but it was questionable by all that the yanks may have been tired because mussina was not really a part of the lost...at least I did not hear one professional speak of it when talking about/commenting on the game

plus, we're now TWO games back - -Philly lost last night

Bah! DH is a Phillies fan and he is getting seriously worried about the Mets. That oughta give you Mets fans something to celebrate. Though I gotta admit he's more concerned about the Marlins, still.

Had a tough time dealing with the Red Sox/Braves matchup last night, because I HATE BOTH TEAMS EQUALLY!

BLAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I had to it there because it was just too outrageous. You are the queen of excuses. Mussina got ROCKED. Forget the errors. He still gave up TWO HRs... and FIVE *EARNED* runs that had nothing to do with the errors. Then they bring in Prinz and he gives up four *EARNED* runs.

And as far as being in first place currently... that doesn't mean anything. They will NOT win the World Series because they don't have the pitching needed to win championships. The World Series is going to be a NL team again this year because the pitching here is superior.

And as far as the Yanks and 'The Boss' is concerned... anything less than World Series victory is failure.

Yankees are up 3 to 1 right now... I'm sort of keeping an eye on the score...

And also lets play your game for a minute.

Nobody has mentioned the 'A' game pitched by Tracshel. If you want to talk about errors... than as far as I am concerned... the Yanks got SHUT OUT last night cause the Mets didn't give up a single earned run in nine innings.

Suck on that for a while.

no yesterday, i said that the yankees would probably make the excuse that they were too tired -- i didn't say i agreed with it.

if the met fans YOU hang out with are making excuses for the yankees, then they aren't REAL met fans -case closed

um -- what post game show were you watching? Hmmmmm -- could it have been the YES Network -- oh gee, those are some objective reporters. They are a bunch of hired brownosers, paid to say whatever Steinbrenner wants them to say -- please. Kay, Sterling, Waldman are all a bunch of spineless jellyfish out for a paycheck

Oh goodness, you are annoying...you dont seem to know much about what you are talking about so I'm not gonna discuss the Mets/Yank's with you...

Don- You I do think have valid points....and while we disagree on some points, I take you more seriously....I did watch the Yes network..also channel 2/4/7 and ESPN so Im not 'biased' ...I was saying what I heard...

I'll give you the Mets win today..they deserved it....

What I hate is that the Mets fans seem to think that the Yankees suck and that is just the stupidest thing I've ever heard...
Give due when its due is what I believe in..

Guess we will see how the Mets AND the Yankees hold up the rest of the season...

p.s I didnt say FH talks down about the Mets..I wish he would...LOL

LOL Ahhhh so you finally give credit for a Met victory? Daym i'm impressed. I was waiting for today's excuse, considering yesterday's game had 10x more issues that were excuseable than Fridays.

I don't think the yankees suck. I just feel that ain't winning the championship this year because their pitcher is lackluster. If you are a yankee fan and need to take this personally, well thats your choice. Every baseball analyst and expert is saying the same thing. And this year unlike years past, there are very few available quality pitchers to trade for.

Just like Don says... its so easy to upset a Yankee fan.

Game three starts in 20 mins. Too bad I gotta go to FW's best friend 4th party or else I would watch it.

Either the Mets sweep... or the subway series ends even.

Good luck to both teams.

WOW.. my thread got big.. and I wasn't even in on it. I'm impressed by both sides of the NY baseball coin defending their teams.

THe Mets played harder.. were more determined.. the Yankees (except for Williams) mailed it in. They had no heart.. nothing. They and their fans must have thought this would be a gimme series.

Well.. they were wrong.

I wonder if King George slept well last night.
hehe

Steinbrenner & Yankee fans -->
