Night before wedding room block?

Night before wedding room block?

Hi everyone- I am getting married Sunday night Memorial Day weekend. We are on a budget and not sure who will be inviting to the rehearsal dinner yet (it will likely be very small). The hotel that we are planning on doing the room block requires a minimum guarantee.

SO the question is whether we should even do a room block for the night before the wedding. The rate online is actually cheaper for that night, but the room block is a good deal for the wedding night.

Does this make sense?

Is it rude to not have a room block for night before wedding? If we do have one, will people assume they are being invited to rehearsal dinner?

Thanks and sorry so long!

You should block a set of rooms. You don't pay for it - your guests do, so I'm not sure why you're so worried. I am doing 2 blocks of rooms for the night before and night of our wedding.

if the hotel is giving you a higher rate with the group code than online (for the night before) than just do the block for the wedding night. You shouldn't give the hotel more money!

Either way, I don't think people will assume they are invited to the rehearsel dinner if you block two nights. On the invitation, you probably don't need to say which nights the group discount is valid for. You can leave it vague... we just put an insert that the hotel gave us and all it contained were the directions of the hotel and the number to call to reserve a room.
