Re: night time weddings
My reception starts at 7 but I'm having the ceremony at 2:30 so I can take a lot of pictures outside. There is going to be a large gap between the wedding and reception but I need that time so my guests are going to have to deal with it.

Re: night time weddings
We originally didn't want to take pictures prior to the wedding, but we have pretty much changed our minds. We are getting married at 7:30 and don't want to miss the reception by taking pictures during. We want to do that before and take 'party' pictures.

Our reception starts at 7, our ceremony is at 4....so hopefully we can get a couple of pictures in before it gets to dark out.

Re: night time weddings
My Ceremony starts at 7:00 and CH is directly after. FH & I are taking pictures before because I want during the day shots outside as well. I also want to attend my CH
There will be a special place where FH and I will see each other alone for the first time that day though.

Re: night time weddings
we're planning on taking the majority of pics between the ceremony and reception. However we're also taking a couple in the evening since I want some pics at night. I wanted some pics in a gazebo with lots of white lights.

Those are my hours too I didn't think about that when we chose a march date, but I think it should be ok. If the ceremony starts at 4 it'll will most likely end aound 5, That gives you some time.

Our ceremony is at the RH at 7 and so, we will have to take our pictures beforehand as well. Thinking of where --- any suggestions?

Where are you getting married? Old Westbury Gardens, The Beach, etc...

Re: night time weddings
we're taking pics before. Originally we did not want to do that but the day will go by much smoother and less stressful if we do it that way. Many couples have such great pics of when they first saw each other before the ceremony that it convinced us to do this. Also we get to take pics at a botanical garden! I've always wanted to do that.

Re: night time weddings
our mass is 2:30 and our reception starts at 6pm, so hopefully it will still be light out for us to take pics outside

Re: night time weddings
it has some nice spots, i am hoping the photographer (whom i have not found yet) will be creative and take nice pics, it is really important to not see my fh before the ceremony.

My church is at 2 and reception at 630 so I have plenty of time to take pics during the day. Are you getting married in the hall?

My church is at 2:00pm and the CH starts at 6:30 - so I am taking pics after church before CH starts

Re: night time weddings
that was a huge factor in choosing our hall. Not only will it be dark, it'll be COLDDDD too.
We chose a hall with a photo studio inside.
eta: my church is 5pm - 6pm. We have a 40 minute drive to the hall, and the CH starts at 8. Photog wants families there by 7 to get all the pics done.

Re: night time weddings
for a while I didn't want to take pics before, but then I realized that I'd rather be able to enjoy my party than hold out for this 'moment' that might not even come... and I definitely don't subscribe to the whole 'bad luck' thing!
So, yeah, we're taking pics before, I really want outdoor pictures that look not just like posed wedding pics but like real photographs. I might even take them at my parents house (they have beautiful gardens) before we get to the hall so we can have more daylight without having to pay extra to the hall for getting there early.
