Nitpicky Poll about how you worded your invitations.

Nitpicky Poll about how you worded your invitations.

Ok, my sister and I both noticed in some catalogs, that 2005 is written out as two thousand and five, which is grammatically incorrect. It's supposed to be two thousand five. Which one did you, or are you, going to put on your invitations? My sister even had a FIGHT over it with the invitation person who did not want to put two thousand five! Is this just a grammar police thing, or did anyone else notice this?

OH NO! I KNEW that was wrong when I was filling paperwork...I better change it when I get the proof!
Thanks for posting this!

I hope no one gets freaked out by this! That's not why I posted it I just wanted to know if my sister and I are crazy for noticing this. When you write the word 'and', technically, it is a decimal point. But we're both teachers and very anal, so that's why I put the poll, to see what you girls put. I don't think most people would notice this, though!

mine are done and say two thousand AND five. I had no idea that was grammatically incorrect.

I'm not 'freaked' out by it. It's one little word. just oh so lovely to know.

OOPS! Mine say two thousand AND five. And yes, I thought that was appropriate after looking at all the sample invitations. Oh well. I'm sure most of my guests aren't going to think about it.

WEll, the reason I don't really think it's a big deal is because so many of the sample invitations have the AND, I was just curious as to what you girls all put.

'two thousand and five' here!
I questioned it, but saw all the samples had it that way, so I figured...they'd know better than me!

i have the 'and'... but i'm not going to freak out over it. all of my invitation designer's samples had the 'and', and i actually like how it looks. grammar be d@mned!

I never thought much about it....mine say two thousand and five. I kept asking the person helping us for the proper formal wording...thought she put us in the right direction...ohwell it's done now!

My says AND - I did it online, and that's what it wrote when I typed in 2005.

My friend's invitation that I just got in the mail also has an AND.

I don't think anyone will notice - I didn't really pay attention when I got my friend's invite.

There's a difference between what is correct in an English paper and what is appropriate for a formal invitation. The formal invitation is supposed to have the 'and'.
