I decided to not have a bridal party. I know, my mother can't believe it. Has anybody ever went to a wedding w/o bridesmaids? I will have flower girl..ring bearer...
I am having my sister as a maid of honor.

Re: NO BRIDESMAIDS
I've been to a wedding that just had the witnesses (MOH and BestM) and it looked absolutely fine! I seriously don't even think anyone noticed. Having more of a bridal party helps aleviate some of the responsibilities that might be placed solely on the MOH, but....she'll be fine if you help her out!

We're doing the same thing. Just FG, RB, MOH and BM. I would not have been able to deal with the hassle and drama of a bridal party. Personally, I don't see what purpose the BP has except for appearance (same as the purpose of a FG & RB). Don't feel badly, it'll look fine. My cousin did the same thing also and no one thought anything of it.

Re: NO BRIDESMAIDS
About 3 years ago I went to a wedding where they had a maid of honor, a flower girl and about 12 groomsmen. It looked great. It would probably save you a lot of grief. I, for one, cannot get away with it. Good luck.

Thanks for all your responses. I feel sooo much better. Just wondering how 'small' it will be for pictures.?? and the limo?? I will post these issues...will i be saving soo much money?
It will definetly be an easy way to cut costs. Now you just need a small limo, or if you want a specialty car, I doubt the MOH and BM would mind going with their dates or family. You'll save on bouquets, attendant gifts and it will probably save you time w/ the formal photos since the photographer won't have to organize a large group for bridal party photos.

I am not having any bridesmaids either. My daughter (15 yrs old) is my MOH, my 19 year old son is escorting me down the aisle and my 8 year old niece is my Flowergirl.

To each her own. I think it's perfectly fine not to have any bridesmaids. One of my sister's friends didn't have any bridesmaids at her wedding. Actually, she didn't have a wedding party period. Not even a MOH. My own mother flipped out when I told her I was having 4. She convinced me to just have 3 but I'm back at 4. Go with your heart!

I doing the same thing. I thought it would be too much to have a wedding party. I really didn't want to have to put anyone out of their way as well as have to spend so much $$$. So, I too have my MOH (my aunt) and FH chose his 2 brothers as his best men and we have FH's niece as the flower girl and his nephew as the ringer bearer. So far, I'm having no regrets about it either !! Remember, it's your day, so you MUST do what makes you happy

Yes, one of my best friends just had her sister. She wanted to keep things simple, and she would have had a fleet of bridesmaids if she didn't do it this way.
It is your day. You should do things the way you like. And you are probably doing some of your friends and family a favor by not making them by expensive dresses they will never wear again.

Re: NO BRIDESMAIDS
See, I've thought about doing that. Now I feel like I'm scrounging up girls to ask them to be my BMs, he's got no problem with the guys. I just like the traditional thing but whatever you want goes, it's your day.

Re: NO BRIDESMAIDS
One of my girl friends had her mother as the matron of honor, and her husband had his dad as the best man - that was the only bridal party.

I think it's a great idea if that's what you want to do. Noone is going to agree with everything you decide, but it's your wedding and I think that's a great way to do it actually.

the only thing a small wedding party will do to the pics is put even MORE emphasis on YOU...definitely a good thing!
Simple and elegant. Didn't want to make my friends buy dresses etc.
Just easier for me

I unfortunately went the other way & had a huge BP.....in retrospect, I would have had just MOH & BM.

This is true. I only had a MOH and BM and it really made things easier all the way around. We only had one classic car to take me and MOH to church and then the 4 of us to the reception. Then, the photos took less time, since there were only 4 people involved in bridal party shots. Then, I think it was easier to choose the photos for the album, because most of the larger group shots have at least one or two people who don't look good. Since most of the photos just had the 2 of us, or the 4 people in the bridal party, it was easier to choose the best photos.
You will also spend less on thank you gifts, limos and flowers and have no hassle coordinating for so many dresses and tuxes. I chose to do it this way because that was what I really wanted, but when I realized how much money I was saving, I was delighted!
