How many of you have decided NOT to register for china?
To be honest we'll be moving into an apt. & won't have a house for 2-3 years & then although of course we'll have company, I don't see us 'taking out the special china.'
I think I'd prefer to just get very nice every day wear.
FH is on the wall on this as his mom is saying 'of course you have to register for china.'

Re: No China?
It took my sister about 13 years to use her china. However, that is not keeping me from registering for it. FH and I plan on having Friday night Shabbat dinners to keep a sense of home for us. I would like to have at least 2-4 place settings readily available/accessible to us in the event we have guests. The rest wil be put away. We will probably register for a service for 16 since we both come from very large families. I don't see us every having the kind of money where we will be absle to just go out and buy that. Even if we get half the amount of place settings, we can at least get 10% the other half after the wedding.

I didn't because my mom wanted to give it as a shower gift to me.

I don't know if we are going to either.. I can't see ever letting anyone in his family eat off of it! Most of his bros/sis still eat off of the kiddie toon plates! lol... And they are teens!
I think it is pretty to have.. but I would be just as happy with a really nice everyday set, and maybe a casual everyday set. I dont know that I'll ever be so formal that I'll need it. But you never know... FH wants it.. but then again, he wants EVERTHING His finger is starting to get the 'I want to register' twitch!!!

Re: No China?
FI doesn't want to... he doesn't see the point. So what I think I am going to do is register for nice everyday china and just dress it up... I saw a nice set in Fortunoff (Mikasa, I think) that was only $55 for the place setting. I think this is reasonable. We are registering on Thursday so we'll see what happens!

Re: No China?
We decided spur of the moment to register for Wedgewood china at Fortunoff. I'm a little squicky about it because I am more enthusiastic about the casual/everyday dishes we registered for at Michael C. Fina, and worry that people will buy the fine china because they think we want it more. BUT, I thought it would be good to have if we want to host Thanksgiving or Passover someday down the line (when we actually have a house!)
