No clue about flower prices....

No clue about flower prices....

I'm wondering if any of you gals can give me a rough idea of what flowers cost. I know a lot of it depends on the flowers...but just guestimating...if I did roses....how much are we talking about?
I only need 2 BM boks, my bok and 5 bout. Then there are 2 corsages, and whatever table centerpieces. I am thinking low, and simple. Can you give me a rouch idea from low to high end pricing?

Re: No clue about flower prices....

if you do low cp's its about $50-100 and high are about $125-200 but roses are usually lower so figure $125

So roughly $100-200 per centerpiece?

you should post on Vendors Helping Bride. I received several quotes since my post. It usually helps if you include photos in your post.

I think that if you want simple low centerpieces, that is too much. I paid $45 for my centerpiece and mine was low and simple (although it probably went for about $75 normally - I got a pretty good deal.) I am going to try to post a picture.

ETA: Sorry it didn't work. i have pics of a sample of my centerpiece in my album, although the real thing was much prettier and fuller.

Re: No clue about flower prices....

Shop around.
I am getting 10 high centerpieces with various flowers (roses, hydrangea, lylies, etc), 1 bride, 1 maid of honor, 1 bridesmaid, 2 junior brides.
5 bout. 1 mother pin (all with roses)
1 arrangement for our table that will double as a church arrangement.

I received quotes that ranged from $1200 to $3000.
I was quoted about $125-$175 for the centerpiece I wanted.

I love the work the vendors on this site do, however they are pricy. I decided to book with a friend of the family who did a sample for FH and I and he loved it.

The cheapest I got was from my mother's friend, second was from a vendor here. I cant remember her name, but post on vendors helping brides and see what you get.

Also ask the RH for recomendations, and shop around your neighborhood and the neighborhood where the RH or church are located. Locals tend to be cheaper.

Good luck.

thats for high cp's and for rose high cp's it wont get to $200. If you want low and simple it wont be that much at all.

Re: No clue about flower prices....

I am doing my own centerpieces so I can;'t help you with that but I am getting:

my bo-k,
a throw bo-k,
3 bridesmaids,
5 boutineers,
2 corsages,
3 long stem white roses,
4 baskets for the (2 by the alter and 2 by the entry arch),
other alter decorations (2 arrangements at the fabric tiebacks, the fabic and the 'starbust' of flowers at the top).
and rose petals for the table to go around my centerpieces.

All for $1200 at Malkmes. The flowers are white roses, larkspur and snapdragons.

According to an acquaintence of mine who is a florist in Buffalo she says that's a GREAT price. About what she would charge up there.

One of my co-workers used them for his wedding and was super happy (this was an unsoliceted comment as he was telling me his wedding was at the Port Jeff Country Club)

Good luck

Can I ask what you are doing with the long stemmed roses? Are they in memory of people?

During the ceremony Rev. Marlan says something about marriage being not only between two peolple but their families as well. Bob will give my mom a rose and I will give Bob's parents roses. Its a nice way to include them. We are also doing a 'sand ceremony' rather and a unity candle lighting.

i agree- it should be less for low cps. i got low cps that were just what i wanted and i think were beautiful for just $35 each, but mine were probably smaller than most choose to get.

oh, and my bouts were 8 each, corsages 25 each, my bok was 165 and BM bok's were 65 each...just to give you an idea. but i had other things as well.

not sure about all roses- i had some vandella roses but also hydrangeas and other flowers.

Re: No clue about flower prices....

I go to florist with price lists I get from bulk flower supply shops online.

When they want to charge me $3 a rose, I say I can get them online for $1. They will either do one of two things, they will lower the price or they will say ok, you provide the flowers, I charge $100 per hour for my service...
at that point you move on.

Have a general idea of the common flowers and how much they cost before you go.

got to sites like fiftyflowers.com to see general bulk prices... they are probably 20% more expensive than wholesale prices the florist pays

Re: No clue about flower prices....

The best prices around by far were from
Burtons-Michael
Verbene Designs - Jen
LA Blossom _ laurie
Flower Michele - John
Flowerbarn
Designs by Rose -Rose or Doris
The above were all very reasonable, with Burtons being the lowest and they said you must pay tax.

On the expensive side:
Sugar Magnolia
Pedestals
Flowers by Rori

New florists:
Truly elegant designs _ Shanta
Flower You -Alex
I am not sure about the 2 above, they are new and not much is out about them, they came in the lowest but i was nervous.

Stay away from Hidden Essence, she works from home and was on teh higher side, for someone who told me flat out she has no overhead, she works from home, has her studio in her home, her quote rivaled pedestals. I was floored and not impressed one bit from her portfolio or demeanor. But that is just me, I am very picky and knew exactly what I wanted.

I am using calla lillies, hydrangeas, stock, orchids, snapdragons, and curly willow. all the boo-k's are mini calla's, quite expensive from what i am told, but with roses i am sure you have more leeway.

I booked with Verbena Designs since we cliqued so well, but my frst choice was Burtons and he ended up being booked. But check them out, i have done my homework, if you need numbers, i still have all my estimates with all that info.

Good luck and FM me with other questions.

Re: No clue about flower prices....

For a low center piece it could run you anywhere from $50-75 ea. High Centerpieces $125-200.

I disagree about the comment on Hidden Essence. I booked her for my wedding on 4/12/08 and she is giving me GORGEOUS centerpieces (see pic) and BEAUTIFUL bouquets for extremely competitive pricing. I had an idea of what I wanted for centerpieces & she came up with the arrangement based on my vision. The owner, Michelle, is an ABSOLUTE pleasure to work with-very creative & has an awesome deamenor. I shopped around for a while for flowers and was receiving pricing upwards of $175 for what I was envisioning. She is charging me only $125.00 per centerpiece which is an amazing price for what I'm receiving (roses & hydrangeas). Yes Hidden Essence's workshop is run out of her home but I don't think that matters when you're receiving gorgeous & quality end products. Lord only knows where Jimmy Choos are made (probably some dingy factory in a third world country) but the quality end product is what we're paying for. Check out her website to see the beautiful arrangements she's done for other weddings.
I saw Hidden Essence's work from photographs of a co-workers's friend's wedding and fell in love with her work.

If anyone would like photographs of the flowers from my wedding in 18 days, I will be more than happy to share. kiss:

Those are beautiful flowers.

Pricing is going to be based on the Vendor, type of flowers and size. The bigger the arrangement, the higher the prices.

Good Luck to you all

I also disagree with the negative comments about Hidden Essense. I booked with her. I found her to be extremely affordable, and was very impressed with her work, and she was just one of the sweetest people I have came across so far. My wedding is far away, but I have seen her work, and she wasn't the first florist I met with, and found her to be the best so far.

I am getting 12 low cp's
My BO-K
A kissing ball for my MOH
2 BM BO-K's
Rose Petals for the Flower Girl
5 Boutonieres
3 Corsagges
2 Throwaway BO-K's for our mothers

All for under $1000
