We are pretty much the first to get married amongst our friends and families. We are the eldest in our families AND most of our friends aren't married yet, let alone have children.
No one in our immediate lives has young children.
Do you think we should 'recruit' friends' nieces/nephews for our ceremony or just not have them in the wedding?
I like the idea of having an adult only wedding but am disappointed that we won't have an adorable flower girl.

Don't feel bad I'll have flower girl with no ring bearer.
I would leave it adult only rather than recruit kids that really aren't too close to you.
Your day will be perfect either way!

I'm in the same boat as you. I feel funny asking my one friend with a kid if the four-year-old will be my flower girl, because I feel like that's a part of your bridal party and is reserved for people you love, not just random cute kids. So I'm going without, and I think that will be fine.

Don't feel bad....I don't have any either. I don't think it will be as meaningful if you just have kids int he wedding for the sake of it. I would leave it as is...your day will be beautiful regardless

I don't have a flower girl, ring bearer or bridesmaids!! Just a MOH and a BM. I think it's fine without it.
I didn't have a FG or RB at my first wedding. Don't sweat it! It will be beautiful anyway. An adult wedding is the way to go especially if you don't have any nieces or nephews. I have both and still am only having a FG.

Don't feel bad! I'm the youngest and both my siblings have children - and all of my cousins. FH has nephews as well.
We don't plan to have a FG or RB. It's personally not my taste, though they can be so cute... My oldest niece is too shy and wouldn't want to do it - the others are really too young... so it just wouldn't work. Also, I wouldn't want to chose one child over another and cause controversy...
I'd say if it's not a child close to you, then just do without. You'll still have a beautiful wedding!

I agree - and (this may sound selfish), but I think they can distract from the bride / groom.

It's one less expense. I wouldn't feel bad at all.

More focus on YOU! It's fine not to have kids in the wedding. Sure they can be very cute but they can also bring everything to a halt. Ever see a flowergirl or ring bearer freak out and start crying and refusing to go down the aisle? You are the only one that gets to be a drama queen on your wedding day!

I didn't have a flower girl or RB. Every wedding I have been to where there was one, the boy or girl start to cry, scream, can't sit still and disrupts the service. I didn't want that on my wedding day.

Re: No flower girl or ring bearer
i kind of have the same problem. i KINDA have kids i can use, but dunno if i want to. i was joking with my sisters that they're gonna be my flower girls (they're in their junior and sophomore years of college). that'd be hysterical, i may just do that! hah!
but, do what you want to do. you don't have to hav a fg or rb just because other people do. have who you wanna have at your wedding.
