Is anyone out there NOT going on your honeymoon immediately following the wedding?
FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves and will be moving into an apartment together (and purchasing furniture), and as much as I desperately want to go away, it's just not in our resources right now.
All of my friends who were married went to Europe, and we can't even seem to make it up to Maine for a week.
Is this a horrible thing, to end up staying in your new home and unpacking (and going through gifts)?

Re: No honeymoon?
We're waiting until December to go to Disney. Our wedding is in October. Reason being, we avoid hurricane season, it's less money, and we have time to save a little. We're paying for all of it ourselves, plus buying a house, so it's been a lot! We're also looking into renting a house during that time. It's A LOT less than a hotel, and you have the privacey of a house, PLUS your own pool. Sure you don't get the benefits of a hotel, BUT it costs less, and you can always have someone deliver food(room service). I love the privacey aspect of it. The homes are just minutes away from Disney, so not a big deal. God bless!

not a bad thing at all. Once the wedding is over, it is kind of a let down after all the months of planning, excitement, etc. In your situation, you still have something exciting to look forward to! I think you'll appreciate it more this way, too

I agree. It is something to look forward to. He's going to take the entire month of December off. We'll drive down to FL, find a spot or two to stopover, there and back, then relax when we get there, knowing we have time. I was in Disney 15 years ago and can't wait to go back!! We'll come home right before CHristmas, spend it with family, and then he goes back to work. What more could we ask for? Yeah, there is that excitement, right after the wedding, but to anticipate another exciting event in just a month and a half is great too.
WOW, I just realized...this time next year we'll be getting up tomorrow to go on our honeymoon!! I can't wait!!!!

Re: No honeymoon?
LOL... we are currently moving and unpacking and buying ALL of our furniture. It's a lot to take on, I know how you feel!
We are not taking our honey moon until probably a month or two after the wedding. I'm a teacher and our wedding is Memorial Day weekend. I really can't miss the last month of school. We decided to wait until later in the Summer.
It is a good thing to wait. You will have something to look forward to after the wedding and have some time to unwind afterwards. You won't be stressed during your honeymoon thinking of all that you have to do when you get back. You will also feel better financially about spending at a time when you have the money as opposed to now. Also, You won't suffer from wedding withdrawal as much because you'll be so excited for your trip coming up!

Re: No honeymoon?
Right now it looks like we will be waiting for our honeymoon, because right after the wedding we will be going home to NJ for probably 2 weeks to visit and have a 2nd reception there for people who couldn't make it over to the wedding. We were considering going for like a montha nd spending 2 weeks in NJ and 2 in Jamaica or something, but now we are leaning towards going to Maldives so we'll probably wait a few months.
