Is anyone out there NOT going on your honeymoon immediately following the wedding?
FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves and will be moving into an apartment together (and purchasing furniture), and as much as I desperately want to go away, it's just not in our resources right now.
All of my friends who were married went to Europe, and we can't even seem to make it up to Maine for a week.
Is this a horrible thing, to end up staying in your new home and unpacking (and going through gifts)?

Re: No honeymoon?
Not such a bad thing at all. YOu could always save and go away for your first anniversary - a delayed honeymoon!
Maybe you can spend the night of your wedding and the next day at a nice hotel to get that honeymoon feel.

I agree. If you can't afford it now, then save so you don't have to settle. And see if you can stay in a hotel for a night or two following your wedding.

It's not bad at all and it's not the end of the world. As long as you're happy, that is all that counts. Don't feel pressured because the rest of your friends had extravagant honeymoons. Do what is right for you.
I believe what we'll be doing is either a local mini-moon or just a night or two at a hotel. Perhaps in a yr from now or when it comes our way we'll have a nice honeymoon. I'm not entirely sure about the year anniversary because if all goes well, I'd like to be preggo by then. God knows that's another big

Re: No honeymoon?
we're probably not gonna be going right away due to time and money constraints. we'd really like to go to japan for our honeymoon, but it's most likely not gonna happen. we may go somewhere cheap for the weekend after or something though.

Phew--glad I'm not alone! I'm still taking my two weeks off from work though... I'm not that crazy.
It's a hard thing to sacrifice (one of those things you just assume will happen when you get married), but you're right, it's not the end of world. Besides, I get restless on vacation after six days--probably wouldn't last that long on a big trip!

Re: No honeymoon?
Yeah I'm not sure if we're going to go anywhere. After the wedding we won't have any $$$ left, so I think we'll just come home and relax (we'll still have some time off) and then save up and take a great trip for our one-year anniversary.

Re: No honeymoon?
We had to postpone our honeymoon. My husband started a new job right after our wedding.

We're not going on our HM right away. I'm a teacher. My wedding is in May, but we're waiting until the end of June to go away.

I don't think it's a bad thing at all. You have priorities and that's great

Re: No honeymoon?
We are probably going to have to take our honeymoon 2 months after the wedding due to FH's job. If you can't afford it now, you could save a take a 1 year anniversary vacation. It would be nice to spend some alone time unpacking with your new DH in your new home.

Re: No honeymoon?
Don't feel bad - I am not going on a honeymoon right after the wedding either. I think we will go to Disney and Feb is one of the MOST expensive times to go there. We will probably go sometime in April or May.
Plus our budget is tight!

Re: No honeymoon?
FH and I were just discussing this - we may do a really short HM ( like an extended 3-4 day weekend somewhere kind of close) and then have our real HM in the summer

Re: No honeymoon?
Unless FH gets a freakin' job soon (he's been laid off a year now) we will be honeymooning in our backyard! haha...I am not that upset because we have traveled alot & I know once he gets a job again we will be seeing the world again!
