no honeymoon 4 me

well ladies...I don't think FH and I will be going on a honeymoon

A little history: last February-FH and I used all of our tax refund $ to pay off credit cards, student loans and bills that we just dont need for after we get hitched....I closed all of my credit card accounts and left 1 of FH accounts open JUST for our honeymoon...WELL...I found out this past weekend that FH has been using it AND it is alost maxxed out again

we are on a tight budget as it is and it is almost impossible for us to pay it off again AND then have extra money for the honeymoon....(we had discussed a cruise cause we are getting married in March and would like something warm)

we have 2 children and money is tight...so I guess I'll have to pass on it...

oh well.....right??????

Shame on ur FH!!!

Well u know what...many ppl don't go on honeymoons... it just doesnt happen for some, but they make up for on their 1st year anniversaries! Perhaps that?

Or maybe u guys can do a wknd getaway not far from home?

Furious wouldn't even BEGIN to describe what I would be feeling ... FH would have to have a very good excuse in order for him to still live after that because I would KILL him!

Your FH sounds like my FH, which is why he gets no access to my credit cards at all.

Other than a joint checking account to pay the bills (which I'm in charge of) we have no shared finances, so he has to bail himself out if he gets in a bind.

Can you maybe just go to the Pocono's for a couple days away from the kids in a reasonably priced place?

I feel so bad...did you talk to your FI about why he did that? Maybe you can do a short weekend somewhere.

Oh no!!! So sorry to hear that!!

I understand how you feel. Money is tight for us too--I am back in college and between mortgage, credit cards, car loans, bills, etc., etc. there is no honeymoon for us either. We say summer of 2005 but we'll see.

Maybe you could just get away for a few days to Niagra Falls or the Pocono's like our parents did years ago!!

Did you look into Dominican Republic or something like that? We went there for a trip and got a really amazing deal. Talk to FH and see why he did that and didnt tell you. What about this years tax return? Is that going towards the wedding?

yup....it's going towards the wedding AND a place to live....

i looked into poconos and niagara falls and it seems that there isn't much to do unless it is snowing....???

what the he!! has he been using it for without you knowing about it!! I think that is more of an issue right now!!!

Did you know he was buying stuff?? We almost didn't go but then DH refinanced a loan for our HM....it was only $3500

I'm sorry for your troubles.

Why not a weekend getaway? Or last minute deals...you can probably find something reasonable! Research especially the internet.

If not, then plan something for your 1st anniversary!

Wow, I'd be NOT happy! Other than talking to him about $$ before the wedding, maybe you can just plan to get away for a night or 2...???

going on a HM right away is not a big deal... maybe you 2 can plan a trip in a couple years... FH's parents never went on a HM and then for their 25th wedding anniversary they went to Hawaii (and brought the family & I) so it was awesome!!!

I would def talk to your FH about the credit cards though... its not good to have a maxed out card... especially come time for looking for homes and mortages... plus who wants to have another bill to pay each month...

Why dont you register for your honeymoon expenses?

You sound like you have a full household and dont need anymore house gifts so mayb eyour family and friends will chip in to pay for your honeymoon????
