No idea what I am doing! Need honest RH help

Original post by CantWait2Wed

Hello everyone,
I have been lurking around here for a week and think I should introduce myself! I got engaged last Tuesday and have basically no idea what I am doing! I am looking for a RH that is elegant. My FH and I are bagpipe and kilt people and don’t want an over the top venue. Something with a nice ball room that can hold about 200 or so people. Any suggestions/price information you could share would be GREAT. We are thinking March(ish) of 2011 but are flexible as we would like to keep it as cost friendly as possible (under 85pp) while still giving our guests a great time and great food. Some places I think I like include Old Field and Three Village Inn.

congratulations.!!

you can check out www.weddingsitesandservices.com

they have information on a lot of reception halls on long island. each site gives you info on where it is located, min/max capacity, number of weddings at a time, etc.

I am having my RH at the bayview house at captain bills .. i believe for march it would be under $85pp and it has amazing food. beautiful hall

good luck

I don't know if Crest Hollow is too over the top for you, but I got quotes for Sunday nights in November 2011 for $69pp!!! And they told me that January/February would be even cheaper.

Also check out the Larkfield Manor in East Northport. Swan Club might be too small - I went when it was set for 200 and it was a bit tight (and and I had a hard time imagining where the dj/band would go). But they said $60pp for a Friday in November 2011 so a Sunday in early 2010 may be even less than that.

I had my Sweet Sixteen at Verdis of Westbury 9 years ago and they only charged us $35pp but I'm sure things have changed... It might be a bit too over the top for your taste though.

You might want to consider one of those all inclsuive wedding packages that I've seen The Thatched Cottage and Leonards do. Usually January/February special for $10K for 100 people (that includes DJ, flowers, etc.). Depending on your overall budget, that might be something you want to consider.

Hope this helps! Good luck! FM me w/ any questions!

Congrats!!!

I chose The Watermill but some other places I thought were great were...

Larkfield Manor

Miller Place Inn (they have a special or 99.99 a head including limos, photo, flowers, and DJ) I think.

Captain Bill's I heard was great.

Stonebridge Country Club was awesome!

There are so many and you have time to go and look at all of them. I say go for a Thursday night or a Sunday afternoon/evening for the lower prices.

Good Luck!!

Welcome and Congratulations!!!!

I might be a little biased with my suggestion but I think Chateau La Mer might be a great place for you to take a look. The food is amazing! The menu choices are extensive and the price is VERY affordable! (FH and I are on an extremely tight budget) and as soon as they told us the price we were sold! If you have any questions feel free to FM me for my quote :)

GOOD LUCK!!!!
