I'm not exactly sure how to tell my friends this but we'd really like no children under the age of 12 at our wedding. Including our own daughter, who will be three at the time. She's going to be the flower girl but after the ceremony and cocktail hour, she'll be going with our babysitter and then with my parents for the night. I have out of town guest coming in with young children, ranging from 1-5yrs old and I don't know if they'll all be able to leave their little ones back at home. How do I say this nicely without sounding rude, that I don't want any kids at the wedding?. If they can't leave their kids at home, should I try and help them find a babysitter up here or have them stay with my daughter and my babysitter? I don't know what to do!

Re: No kids at the wedding?
The ONLY children that are being present at our wedding and reception are the children in the bridal party. I included 'adult reception' on the the invites. But, I have no intention to explain my rational of why we can't afford to invite everyone's children. Would we like to, absolutely, but we can't afford to. It increases about 30 more people.

Re: No kids at the wedding?
...crashing!... I posted on my wedding site 'Due to a growing guest list, we decided to include guests ages 16+. Thank you for your understanding...' FH & I are known for not liking children (lol), so people knew before the invites went out that they could not bring their kids. I would appoint a person on each side to spread the word too. Don't be afraid to tell your friends, this is your wedding, your decision. Personally, I think a wedding is an adults-only type of thing.... unless the setting is extremely laid back.

Re: No kids at the wedding?
Don't get me started on this! I feel your pain! This was my drama of the last few weeks and one out of town cousin pretty much will not take no for an answer. Well, now my other family members with young kids are calling saying if she can they should be able to. Really people?? It's a wedding. A formal event. Leave the kids home!!
Babysitter idea is nice of you. I tried it and they refused to leave their child with a babysitter they did not know since they are traveling up here for the wedding. I don't know what else to do and feel like I (who am usually a blunt person) can't find it in me to say then just don't come...
Help! My wedding is going to turn into Kid Fest 2012!!

Re: No kids at the wedding?
As a parent, I can not for the life of me understand why anyone would want to bring their child to a wedding lol!. I went to a big family wedding this past June, and it was no kids, which I was fine with..we didn't have a babysitter, so FH stayed home with our daughter, problem solved!. I guess because I have a child, my friends assume that I won't mind kids there..I don't at ALL!. I'm usually blunt too but I'm having such a hard time telling everyone.
Honestly, we don't even have a babysitter for our daughter yet, I don't have a babysitter period..anybody that I would trust babysitting her is going to be at our wedding. So it might be pretty hard for me to find my friend a babysitter as well. Oh the drama involved with weddings!
