No Luck

No Luck

I had absolutely no luck with finding THE GOWN today. I actually left one of the stores in tears and $100 dollars in the hole b/c i felt so pressured to put money down on a gown.
i'll be calling tomorrow to get my deposit back.

this is so rediculous. i'll most more of an update in the morning... hope you all had a much better day than i did.

Oh... the trunk show at macy's in the smithhaven mall has some great gowns at great prices... but the sales women are kinda pushy even if they are super nice. if you're looking for a demetrios gown...definately check it out.

I'm sorry to hear :( I think you should pretend that your wedding is in five years....look for a gown and you'll surely find the one! Omit the pressure and wanting to find one....as you know, when you are looking for something in particular you never find it! Almost everytime I go to the mall to buy something in particular, I can't find it....when I go to just walk around, I find tons of things. Keep looking, hang in there and you WILL find it soon.

i tried on a few differant styles today, one of which i was convinced would make my boobs look huge and rediculous and it actually did just the opposite. it was a nice surprise. BUT the gowns in that style all had something that i hated about them...either the beading was wrong or the material ****** or something...

i am a very curvy lady with a DDD bustline and a smaller waist (not skinny by any means) and large hips but NOT as large as my chest. b/c of this only certain cuts really work with me.

there are gowns that i LOVE but i cant even begin to try them on b/c my hips and or bust are too large to even get the samples over.

I'd love to do it like that, but everytime I go somewhere I get told 'you really need to order your gown NOW. you're cutting it really close' and then i panic and it's no fun anymore.

you're right though, i'm the same way with going to the mall, how do i trick my brain??

Awww i'm sorry that you had no luck finding your gown. You are probably so anxious with everyone telling you that you need to get a dress now and that you are cutting it too close. Obviously you know that you need to get a gown. Maybe if you go places with the expectation of NOT finding a gown, it will pop up. That always happens for some reason. What type of gown do you think that you are looking for? I can always try to help find some pics for you.

Did you try a halter. They usually look great on all body types especially if you have a large chest.

I am sorry it didn't go well. Don't worry you find one. Just keep looking. You have to try on a lot before you find the one you want.

Well i couldn't fit in half the samples I had tried on... what you do is try it on as best as possible if you like how it looks in a picture on model and its okay on you - then consider it. I can't fit in the casablanca i am ordering today but i love the dress and i know it will look good once it actually fits on me.

Definitley get your money back- I would never want to feel pressured to put a deposit down on a gown I didn't like.
It does take time to find 'the gown'- you will find it though.

I first did a search online... and the second one online i liked I simply loved, THEN I called stores to find out where it was and went, when I got there i tried on other gowns with it, and it turned out that one that I saw online was THE GOWN! May not work for everyone, but have you done that?

i found the gown i love online, and in a magazine. i have pictures of it EVERYWHERE! everytime i see it in a magazine i rip it out and save it. i tried it on. it was the wrong size but closest to my fit out of everything else i've tried on. i personally loved it but everyone and i mean everyone who's seen me it said 'EH'
i want everyone to go WOW!!

i've been crying all day about it. it's so silly... i kept having nightmares last night that i was walking down the aisle in the gown i put money down on... and it was literally a nightmare. i just cried the whole time i was wearing it.

only one store near me has the gown i love... and they would not allow any pictures at all. and they were very rude/mean and obnoxious. i can order it somewhere else, i've already checked that out.... but i'm trying to find another place to try it on.

i KNOW everything will turn out okay. but i'm still freaking out.

i can't pull of the halter top look in regular clothes... and i'm not a fan of halter gowns on models... i never thought to try one on myself though

Re: No Luck

IGNORE EVERYONE!!! there was a bride in the store i was at yesterday when ordering and she was getting married in december so her bm's were in the other side trying on their dresses and the bride was trying in a bunch of dressers herself and no one cared about her - trust me her bm were more concerned about themselves. All the bride said over and over again was DO YOU LIKE IT? I wanted to slap her and say no its do you like it... no one loved the dress that i picked out... only my mom said after i told her I loved this dress that she said she liked it too. Why? people have a vision of what THEIR wedding dress will be and if they don't see you in that dress of course they will say ah.. nah. So do what you love and what you feel.

Of course you have plenty of time so try and try some more dresses if yuo keep saying you like that original dress (this is what i did) and realize that the sample didn't fit you well and that you know deep down in side that its perfect then GO FOR IT!!
