I got a gown last week. I didn't even like it on the rack. The lady said that I should try it on because she thought it would look nice on me...OMG was she right! I loved it the second I put it on. I don't know if you have been there yet, but Paradise bridals in Patchogue had a pretty big selection of gowns and the ladies that worked there were soooo nice (especially Pat). I got my gown at the Bridal Suite in Bay Shore. The woman that helped me was so great (and patient). Her name was Mary Ellen. Give them a try if you havent already. Good luck!!!!

If your really in love with the dress that you liked and when you tried it on you liked it thats all that matters, after all it is YOUR day and not anybody elses. If you get the dress that everyone else likes & you really don't then you are going to regret it forever..do what you feel is right who cares about everyone else remember its your day!!! Good luck!!

IGNORE EVERYONE!!! there was a bride in the store i was at yesterday when ordering and she was getting married in december so her bm's were in the other side trying on their dresses and the bride was trying in a bunch of dressers herself and no one cared about her - trust me her bm were more concerned about themselves. All the bride said over and over again was DO YOU LIKE IT? I wanted to slap her and say no its do you like it... no one loved the dress that i picked out... only my mom said after i told her I loved this dress that she said she liked it too. Why? people have a vision of what THEIR wedding dress will be and if they don't see you in that dress of course they will say ah.. nah. So do what you love and what you feel.
Of course you have plenty of time so try and try some more dresses if yuo keep saying you like that original dress (this is what i did) and realize that the sample didn't fit you well and that you know deep down in side that its perfect then GO FOR IT!!
thank you so much for this. You're right about the vision of their wedding.. My moh was having me try on gowns that she loved. She kept hugging them and saying it was perfect. She and I do not have the same taste in clothes or anything so I dont know why I was taking her word to be the end all be all of opinions. However, she was right about what looked good and what didnt. Her taste is just differant than mine. My mom has an idea in her head of what i should look like and i feel bad b/c nothing she suggests is what i want. I want my hair up, she wants it down, i want one type of gown she wants another... i want sneakers she wants me to wear high heals...
it is MY wedding gown. as long as i love it i should ignore everyone. why is it so much easier to type and say than it is to do???

you ladies have all been so supportive!! will you guys come with me next time i go gown shopping??
i'm definately worried that i'm gonna break under pressure and get a gown i dont love. it'll be such a waste of money and i'll regret it forever.

When I went shopping I went with my mom & sister, I told them before we went that I was trying on what I like and that i was getting what I liked since its my wedding..I told them this like a week before as a warning so that the day we went they wouldn't think I was being a bridezilla. But you should give them a warning and tell them this is what your looking for and thats it...remember its your choice!!!

I had a gown in my head before i even knew if it existed. a style at least... BUT just b/c i like the style doesnt mean it'll look good on me. for instance i love the sleek gowns but with ddd's and 38inch hips... i cant really pull that look off. even if *I* think it looks good, i'd rather not have my guests talking about how awful my gown was after the wedding. so having other people's input is important to me.
BUT i totally get what you're saying and you're right, it's MY choice in the end. Thanks for helping validate that in my head.

they told me it was refundable up untill this friday.
i saw the gown online and it's amazing and gorgeous and i love it. but on me.... not so much.
i'm trying NOT to spend 2k on a gown, and i've found several in the price range i prefer but I cant find anywhere that stocks a sample!

I tried on a gown this weekend that I fell in love with. I am a plus size bride but I have big boobs, big hips and a smaller waist so I will need to have the waist taken in. I thought I wanted one with straps a-line, and a lot of detail all over the gown. I tried on a gown yesterday at bridal ellegance and it was great! It is stright, plain, strapless and nothing like I wanted but I fell in love! Here is a pic of the gown
btw - I'm not ordering this exact gown but this is what I know I want. It was only $490 from Bridal Ellegance!

we have the same body type it seems. i never would have tthought to try on a gown in that style. it's a gorgeous gown! i definately have to go try on more styles.
i've heard great things about bridal elegance but i cant figure out where it is.
