No matter how much you plan....

No matter how much you plan....

There will always be something that goes wrong at your wedding. I knew this...and lived by the motto whatever can go wrong will go wrong. So glad I did otherwise I may have been in tears on my wedding day.

I figured before I rave about all the good things about my wedding I would tell you all the bad. Maybe you'll get a good laugh.

1. My Aunt was supposed to do a reading at the ceremony and she was bringing my Grandmother. She locked her rental car keys in her car and had to wait over an hour for them to arrive with new keys. Needless to say, they didn't show up until the end of our cocktail hour.

2. When we arrived our cake looked awful! The pink and purple swirls had run into the white cake. It looked like a tie-dyed mess.

3. We had a crasher! My neighbors 70 year old mother decided to just come along. This caused seating problems and leads to...

4. One of my guests walked out just before our entrance. Saddest thing is that people are still talking about it rather than talking about the good things.

5. Nobody danced...except my daughter and her BFF who were on the dance floor all night! Our DJ tried everything and so did we, but no luck.

6. It's a really good thing we didn't care about getting any money from people because....One person didn't give us a card or gift, one told us not to cash the check for 2 weeks, and one bounced a check on us. And overall people were very cheap, although there were a few pleasant surprises.

I think that is about all of the 'problems'. Overall it was a fantastic day. The issues that could be resolved were resolved very quickly....the issues that couldn't we just adjusted for. For all the future brides...there will be issues. Don't let them ruin your day.

***ETA*** My hair was done slightly different than planned so the veil I bought wouldn't work. It wound up thrown on my bed and I walked the aisle without a veil!

sorry you had a bunch of bumps. but i'm so happy for you, that you can see past them.

i'd love to see a pic of your wedding cake- that actually sounds pretty cool!

I think everyone has bumps. It's not really a big deal. And the cake....
Not cool at all. I have a pic of the fixed cake in my albums. Didn't take any of the mess it was.

your wedding looked beautiful as did you, even with the snafus.

as for people being cheap with gifts, i had the same situation. i think 10 total guests were extremely generous while the rest were just ok. about 20 guests were EXTREMELY cheap (i'm talking $200 for 5 adult guests ...!)

but yeah, whatever .... be happy that it was awesome and keep focusing on the good

Im sorry to hear all of this but as a fellow august bride, I know that everyone has something.

I had 5 non-gifters. totally unexpected too by all of them... very disappointed...

i think its actually 'cool' that you walked down the aisle without a veil. I didnt really like mine in the end, I liked how my hair looked without it better.

I only had two generous gifters. Everyone else was just ok or worse. $200 for 5 adult guests is better than $0 for 8 adult guests!!!!! zero dollars for 8 adult guests.
