At least at my sons school. They can not be bothered in anyway to take a message for the parent coordinator or principal. I called and left a message and I said good Afternoon and she was all chipper once I told her my name ( which is known for giving htem work), she said, and I quote 'oh' She told me she would take a message but I doubt she did.

I think this is a huge generalization and I wholeheartedly disagree. I think school secretaries have the hardest jobs. They do all of the principal's grunt work and have to answer all the phones, type all school correspondence, and deal with students, parents, and the public!

My mother is a school secretary and she works harder than anyone in the school. If it wasn't for her, the school would not run. She is always the first there and one of the last if not the last to leave.. She has to deal with the parents first, usually before teachers or the principal speak to them. I know that it is annoying when the same parent calls over and over again.. sometimes she has other things on her mind! I am also a teacher and know that my school would not run without our secretaries!

I would say that there are definitely excellent secretaries out there, but there are a few doozies too.... one of the secretaries can never remember who I am, even when I've seen her twice in the same day. I've been introducing myself for 2 months now! But most are really good and helpful.
that is why I said 'At least at my sons school'. I would love to transfer them, but obviously in the city it is not easy. It is not only the secretaries. People in that school do not appreciate knowledable people. MY SIL is a teacher in the same district so when she tells me certain stuff I Wonder what about R or P's school. So I ask, especially since I am on the leadership comittee. They do not like that at all. I am really pissed not only with the secretaries the parent coordinator doewsnt know which end is up. I asked her for a computer thing I am suppose to do and I asked what form is it in. She doesn tknow olay she doesnt know computers fine. Then I ask her to email it to me and she says it is on a disk she cannt. ????????? What does that have to do with it? You can still email it to me. Just all around I trhink this school is crap. Point blank from top to bottom. BUT, I actually do like the teachers. they are cool. and nice at least the ones I interact with or at least they are to my face. and tell me about my kids which I do care about
