The church just informed me that my guests were not allowed to throw rose petals and that the flower girl couldn't either. I am so upset. Does anyone have any other suggestions other than birdseed. I did look into butterfly's but they were so expensive. They were like $300 for 25. Too much money for me. Thanks for your help! danielle

Re: No Rose Petals
What about bubbles? If you get everyone to do it, it looks really nice in pics.

Re: No Rose Petals
I am in the same boat, our church won't let us throw anything. So we are going to do bubbles.

Have you ladies asked the church if you could throw rose petals if you have someone come and clean them up?

Re: No Rose Petals
There is Designer wedding rice, it is heart shaped sugar. You can find it at Michaels.
Are any of you getting married at Our Lady of Peace? I called and spoke to someone in the rectory and they said I couldn't have anything except bubbles for liability reasons.

Re: No Rose Petals
I am having the same problem I have to pay the church 100$ to clean up but we are not allowed to throw ANY petals, birdseed, confetti or rice. We have been limited to bubbles. Part is b/c it is much easier to clean and part is for liability reasons.

That really just leaves bubbles or butterflies, doesn't it? I had always wanted to throw the heart shaped rice...

Re: No Rose Petals
One of the girls I worked with used bubbles and she got some really great pictures. The photographer had everyone keep blowing massive amounts all at the same time and the pictures are GREAT. So, even though your bummed - you at least have a cute alternative.

I know, only problem is that I heard that they stain your gown... but I did find some really cute bubble jars on line!

Bubbles, look so pretty!!! I'd watch out for the butterflies... my friend did that and when we went to release them, they were all dead. Hardly any flew out. Keep in mind with the butterflies to, they send you the cocoons and you have to separate them and put them into separate boxes. Just a little info for ya!

Re: No Rose Petals
I suggest bubble. They are NOT messy, and they really look nice in pics!!!
bubbles...that are meant for weddings DO NOT stain your gown...
I did a test of this on my gown's material (I cut off the train and took home the rest)
I went so far to pour the bubbles directly on the fabric and nothing...
but this was for a silk/poly...not sure how it would take to pure silk...
the bubbles that you have to watch out for are the ones that the kids get...especially the long lasting bubbles (the bubble will stay for a few minutes even though it has landed
