Is that wrong of me? I'm going to include the hotel info in my invitation to where I am staying w/ my FH the night of the wedding, but my FH is saying we don't need to pay for a shuttle. We don't have that many OOT guests, so if we get 10 rooms blocked it will be alot.... Plus, the RH is only about 20 minutes away.

Re: No shuttle...
Maybe you can look for a hotel that provides a shuttle for free? I don't think it's absolutely necessary that the guests stay in the same hotel as you. Even if you're doing a morning brunch, you can always meet them at their hotel.

Re: No shuttle...
It's fine if there is no shuttle, but its really a nice surprise if there is one and its free so the guests can drink and enjoy your wedding instead of worrying about who will be the DD

Yea you defnitly dont need to provide this. It is a nice perk to have but if you dont have too many OOT guest than to be honest its probably not worth it for you to shell out all that money for 10 guests. The hotel i am using offers a free shuttle for every 15 rooms blocked. maybe you can try to work out a deal like that with them

Re: No shuttle...
We had 12 rooms that were booked and we didn't get a shuttle, we looked into it but it was way too expensive. People just carpooled and got rides with each other. The hotel was about 15-20 mins. away.

Re: No shuttle...
if you arent doing a shuttle, why even list hotel information? let them look it up online and book wherever they feel comfortable in staying for whatever price they want to pay?

Room block prices are often cheaper than the regular rates. Plus sometimes OOT guests who aren't familiar with the area appreciate the hotel suggestion, and it can be nice if you wind up staying at the same place as other people you know. A shuttle isn't the only reason for a room block. People can still choose a different hotel if they want.
ITA well explained!

Re: No shuttle...
I've found at the hotels I've looked at that the room blocks are MORE expensive than the same rooms on hotels.com or Expedia. Their explanation to me was that with a room block there is no guarantee that they will sell the room, as opposed to an unrelated online site and sells the room right away. I haven't booked my blocks yet, is it fair to play hardball and demand the hotels.com price?

Re: No shuttle...
We had only 2 or 3 rooms booked and we did not provide a shuttle. BUT, I left it up to my guests- there were 2 hotel options in the area- one included a shuttle, one included an indoor pool. The guests went for the pool!

Re: No shuttle...
Im def giving them hotel info, b/c the rate I got was really good for 2 hotels. They both have pools. One of them even offers them a complimentary hot/cold buffet bkfast. It's worth it -- even w/out the shuttle.
