Yes, from a cousin of mine. There was a lot of drama concerning her wedding, and although all the checks were cashed, Thank yous were never sent out. Actually, she didn't send out TYs for any of her parties, engagement, shower or wedding, so I guess the drama part isn't an excuse.

Re: No 'Thank You'?
Wow, really?? There are alot of people out there that are either lazy to do the thank you cards and it takes forever to send out or maybe they just don't want to send it out, but i think it's a bit rude. I guess I would accept a verbal, but that wouldn't be good enough for me.

That's just plain old rude and there's no excuse for it. And no, a verbal TY doesn't cut it for a formal affair where you gave a very generous gift. Yes, writing out 100+ TYs is a pain, but it's just plain rude not to send them at all!

And these were not small gifts either. FH won't give less than $400.00 per wedding. Oh, and they are all close friends who we still see regularly.
I need to invite you guys to my wedding

I was invited to my manager's wedding at the place I used to work at....never received a thank you. Worst part was, we worked at a card and stationary store.

Thats pretty funny.....I remember sending out TY for my sweet 16. I guess it depends on how you were raised. Some people are just not as thoughtful as others.

Re: No 'Thank You'?
I have gone to weddings and not gotten a thank you, but, personally I could care less. Really its done out of obligation most of the time anyway, so I say they're rude, but, whatever.

Re: No 'Thank You'?
It has happened to me before with a second cousin. When I mentioned it to my mom she said she did not get a thank you for the shower gift either.
People surprise me sometimes.

I never got a thank you from my own brother's wedding 2 years ago. I chalk it up to the fact that he is an idiot! It's not worth me making a big deal about it!

That is so rude. My family and I all went to a wedding over a year ago and we only just got a thank you note. I don't think there is any reason for not sending thank you's!

As far as I'm concerned, if you're able to find the time to go to the bank to cash the check, you can find the time to write a thank you card.

Yes I have....and I dont think it's any excuse...people find the time to write you a check and bring it to your wedding (most the time not small ones)...we can find the time to write a thank you as much as its a PITA

Re: No 'Thank You'?
That's just wrong. I have never had this happen to me. I have had it where it's been about a year since they sent one out and I thought that was bad enough.
But to not send one at all. That's just disrespectful!!

Re: No 'Thank You'?
hm, i went to 3 weddings the past year and received 2 out of 3 thank yous.
One is from an indian wedding where maybe they don't believe in thank yous? There must have been 300 guests at the wedding so I can imagine it's a biotch writing out so many!
I've also been to many chinese weddings in the past and never got a single thank yous from any of thsoe weddings. So maybe some traditions value it while others don't require it at all?
When is it too late to send out a thank you anyway?

Re: No 'Thank You'?
I think it is horribly rude not to acknowledge a gift...or even a guest's presence! A verbal thank you just doesn't cut it.
I had a friend who never sent me a thank you. I went to his wedding with my FH. I had NO JOB and I had NO MONEY and I had just had a baby - but I really wanted to be there for him - so I scraped together whatever we had to buy an outfit. Then we got a babysitter and went to the wedding we managed to give them 250 and they never so much as sent a thank you.
I was disappointed - but what can you do?
All I know is that I will DEFINITELY send out my thanks as soon as I can!
