UGH thats why i hate when ppl give advice to brides to wait to book vendors. Sometimes its the parents or somebody who got married a looong time ago and they don't realize that things have changed since then. Sorry that they were booked already.
You might have luck with independent photojournalistic photographers. For example my photographer angelica glass doesnt book more than a year in advance. Well what she does i mean is that if you are getting married in '10, she ONLY started taking appts now in january of 09 and just a few and then will start taking more appts for '10 within the next few months so for '10 she is free, only the few appts she had in january which would be just very few dates.
Same with me. I had wanted to book her in november of 06 for my 08 wedding but she told me she wasnt booking for 08 until beginning of 07. I got lucky and got one of the few appts she did in january of 07 and was able to book her then.
Alot of photojournalistic photographers do this.

4/10/10 is the date my FH and I originally wanted.. the places we looked at were booked, we were looking north shore woodbury/syosset area.. hopefully where you are you'll have more luck!
Im really interested in Sherwood Triart...Im meeting with them hopefully next week. But id like to get an idea on their prices... Does anyone have any quotes for them?

The same thing happened to me last year. When I called they said they have limited photographers for sunday days. So I don't know if that is still true, but that may be why they were booked for your date.
